Ovarian Cancer Canada champions the health and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease while advancing research to save lives. As the only registered Canadian charity solely dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer, the organization provides leadership in research, advocacy, and support, so that women live fuller, better, longer lives.
Prostate Cancer Canada is the leading national foundation dedicated to the elimination of the most common cancer in men through research, advocacy, education, support, and awareness. We fund research that will help uncover better diagnostic and treatment options and provide education and comprehensive support services for those living with and are affected by prostate cancer
PACO is Dartmouth's volunteer-run, wood-fired community oven located in Leighton Dillman Park on the Dartmouth Common.
Parker Street Food Bank provides help to people in need. We are a food and furniture bank, but strongly believe in the adage, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". Some of the opportunities for self-sufficiency have included courses in flooring installation, windows and doors installation, automotive parts clerk, siding, carpenter's assistant training and basic computer skills. We also provide back packs filled with school supplies for young students in September and at Christmas time we provide the ingredients for a traditional turkey dinner as well as toys for the wee ones. We also operate an Emergency Fund to help those in financial crisis, such as helping with utility or heating bills.

Over 95% of the money that P2P raises goes directly to spending on this program in Nicaragua. We are giving students the chance for real academic success, and families living in poverty the hope of a better future for their children.Our deepest hope for all of them is that they will grow into responsible well-informed adults who can make a positive contribution to their country.
Pathways to Education Spryfield reduces poverty and its effects by lowering the drop out rate among high school students from economically disadvantaged communities. Pathways works to increase high school graduation rates and help youth pursue post-secondary education and/or find meaningful employment.

We are dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of youth in a respectful, dignified, and innovative manner, while also being a voce of social justice in their lives. Our programs can now be captures in three important areas: Crises Management (emergency shelter, health services, counselling, drop-in centre), Community based Prevention (clinical therapy, outreach and community development) and Housing and Employment Skills (employment and education, parent support, trustee program, recreation and arts, independent and semi-independent housing).
Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! is Canada's largest sports festival, and we are looking for volunteers just like you this June 16th to 19th on the Halifax Common! It's the ultimate summer street hockey experience, and you can be a part of it as a Play On! Halifax Volunteer! Since the program's inception in 2003, over two million people have participated in one of the 144 Play On! events held to date. The 2016 Halifax event is expecting 600 teams playing on 55 Rinks with 4,400 players and up to 20,000 spectators and we need YOU as a Play On! Halifax Volunteer! Prescott Group is a non-profit community based social enterprise that offers vocational opportunities, programs and services and community employment support to adults with intellectual disabilities in the Halifax area. Prescott Group's social enterprise is made up of Atlantic Bag Manufacturers, Fireside Kitchen and Prescott Mailing Services. Prescott Group also provides coaching and support to clients who work at local businesses and organizations. Our goal is to enhance the independence of persons with intellectual disabilities through personal development, social enterprise and employment opportunities.
