Our Mission: We exist to empower persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and those at risk through health promotion and mutual support, and to reduce the spread of HIV in Nova Scotia. Our Vision: The AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia is a PHA-centered, community leader committed to the creation of a positive, safe and caring environment. We celebrate and share the experiences and lives of PHA and those affected by HIV/AIDS. We celebrate ourselves through our history, the telling of our stories and living courageous lives. We demonstrate courage and commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS. ACNS believes in: - The need for a sustainable, committed and coordinated response to HIV/AIDS. - Learning as an important, ongoing process, fundamental to our growth. - Advocating for a just and compassionate society. As the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia envisions and fights for a cure, we strive to promote holistic quality of life. ALS NB & NS is the life-affirming advocate for people and their families helping them navigate through a confusing and difficult disease with dignity and purpose.

Behind every person with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, there are hundreds of people dedicated to helping. The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia is the leading not-for-profit health organization working to improve the quality of life for Nova Scotians affected by Alzheimer's disease or other dementias and advance the search for the cause and cure. Since 1983, The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia has been dedicated to providing help for people with dementia and their caregivers. That help comes in many ways, including information, support, education and referral to services in your community.

Bladder Cancer Canada is a nationally registered charity organized to help bladder cancer patients and their support teams address day-to-day issues of the disease, increase awareness of bladder cancer among the general public and medical community as well as fund research, which pursues the diagnosis, treatment and elimination of bladder cancer.

Canadian Blood Services manages the national supply of blood, blood products and stem cells, and related services for all the provinces and territories (excluding Quebec). We also lead an integrated, interprovincial system for organ donation and transplantation for all of Canada.

The Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) located in the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, is a collaboration of Dalhousie University, the IWK Health Centre, and Nova Scotia Health Authority. It was established to develop, implement, and evaluate vaccine technologies and vaccines for infectious diseases that have a significant impact on Canadian and global health and to train experts in these critical and evolving fields.

The Canadian Intervention and Assistance Dogs (CIAD) is a not-for-profit society that aims to pair veterans and first responders with service dogs as part of their healing and treatment plan. CIAD was formed to help to bridge the gap between the need for high caliber service dogs and the low supply.

The Centre for Pediatric Pain Research is an international leader in children’s pain research. The interdisciplinary research conducted by our faculty, students, and staff tackles many facets of children’s acute and chronic pain. We are committed to conducting high-quality research on how to better understand, assess, and manage children’s pain and translating this research into improved practice.

Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is the only national, volunteer-based charity focused on finding the cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of children and adults affected by these diseases. We are one of the top two health charity funders of Crohn’s and colitis research in the world, investing over $140 million in research since 1974, leading to important breakthroughs in genetics, gut microbes, inflammation and cell repair as well as laying the groundwork for new and better treatments. We are transforming the lives of people affected by Crohn’s and colitis (the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease) through research, patient programs, advocacy, and awareness.
