Every year, the Valley Harvest Marathon is made possible by the generosity of hundreds of volunteers. We have dedicated groups who help year after year, including ICE Cheerleading, the Shriners, Kingsport Fitness and Wellness, Triton Swim, Horton D1 Girls Volleyball, and many individuals who make this event possible. Over our 50-year history, FBC has contributed critical funding for the development of sight-saving treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases. By raising and stewarding funds, FBC is helping drive forward research that supports our goal of understanding why vision loss occurs, how it can be slowed and how sight can be restored. We are an invaluable resource for individuals and families impacted by blindness, providing accurate eye health information through our website and educational events, as well as engaging with government and other stakeholders to advance better vision health policies.We are looking for friendly Event Day Volunteers to support upcoming education and fundraising events, including Coffee Connections on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Through this role, you will be part of a team that helps the event run smoothly and safely and creates a welcoming and accessible environment for participants.As part of FBC’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion, all Education Event Day Volunteers are expected to provide sighted guide support when assisting participants living with vision loss. Northwood Spiritual Care is looking for a dedicated volunteer to assist in clerical-related tasks which includes helping to prepare church bulletins and assisting with administration duties during religious gatherings throughout the year. This position requires about 2hrs over the course of the week and takes place between Mon – Fri 9-3pm. If you are interested, you should have experience with the following: working in an office environment, organizing, taking direction, being comfortable with computer programs. If you have a church involvement or background that will be very helpful.

The SICC Mobile Toy Library is a community-led initiative bringing educational toys and learning resources directly to Halifax families through vibrant pop-up events. We are growing and looking for passionate volunteers!
