PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Front Desk Volunteer Assistant

The Front Desk Volunteer is the welcoming face of Nova Village. In this role, you will greet visitors, answer phones and emails, answer basic inquiries, direct participants to programs and meetings, and provide administrative support. Your friendly presence helps foster an inclusive, safe, and organized environment for all community members, staff and other volunteers. The purpose of this role is to provide opportunities for increased employment skills.

Volunteer Title: Front Desk Assistant Supervisor: Ruth Power - Byrne Shift day and time: Monday 9am - 12 noon

Tuesday 9am - 12 noon

Wednesday 9am - 12 noon

Thursday 9am - 2 pm

Friday 9 am - 12 noon

Responsibilities

Greeting visitors

Answering phones and emails

Scheduling appointments

Managing intake forms

Handling mail and deliveries

Supporting staff and participants

Maintaining the reception area

Crisis, distress or difficult visitor responses

Skills required

  • Basic English Skills
  • Friendly and personable
  • Good communication skills
  • Organized and reliable
  • Respectful and welcoming to individuals of all backgrounds and ages.
  • Patient and Calm under pressure
  • Basic tech Skills…using a desk phone and simple office computer is helpful
  • Reliable and punctual
