We rely on volunteers to get the food onto the tables of those in Halifax who are unable to prepare a meal for themselves. Our volunteers don’t just deliver meals. They also deliver a smile and a personal connection to our clients. You can make a huge difference in the lives of our clients. How much time you can spare for this valuable work depends on you.We are in need of drivers and runners one day per week during the hours of 9:30am-12:30pm, Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays, to deliver fresh meals to our clients in peninsular Halifax.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Front Desk Volunteer Assistant The Front Desk Volunteer is the welcoming face of Nova Village. In this role, you will greet visitors, answer phones and emails, answer basic inquiries, direct participants to programs and meetings, and provide administrative support. Your friendly presence helps foster an inclusive, safe, and organized environment for all community members, staff and other volunteers. The purpose of this role is to provide opportunities for increased employment skills. As a MARS volunteer you may be asked to support MARS’ marine animal response operations under the direction of a MARS Responder in response to incidents in the Maritime Provinces. Since the work that MARS does can vary, volunteers may be asked to assist response for incidents involving dead or distressed cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises), seals, sharks and other large marine wildlife. Occasionally, there are also opportunities to help in other ways, such as with public outreach. These opportunities will be communicated in advance.Anyone 18+ in the Maritime provinces can volunteer with MARS – no experience or prior training is required. We have dedicated groups who help year after year, including ICE Cheerleading, the Shriners, Kingsport Fitness and Wellness, Triton Swim, Horton D1 Girls Volleyball, and many individuals who make this event possible.
