Volunteer Opportunities in Halifax

As a MARS volunteer you may be asked to support MARS’ marine animal response operations under the direction of a MARS Responder in response to incidents in the Maritime Provinces. Since the work that MARS does can vary, volunteers may be asked to assist response for incidents involving dead or distressed cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises), seals, sharks and other large marine wildlife. Occasionally, there are also opportunities to help in other ways, such as with public outreach. These opportunities will be communicated in advance.Anyone 18+ in the Maritime provinces can volunteer with MARS – no experience or prior training is required. We are a Food Bank looking for a volunteer every second Thursday from 8:00 AM until noon. We are not open any other times and therefore do not need a volunteer outside of these hours.As part of our team. you will be responsible for greeting the clients as they come up to the Food Bank door and handing them pre-bagged groceries. You will be one of 4 or 5 volunteers working at that time. You will help with setup before the door opens at 8:30 AM and with clean up after the Food Bank closes at noon. You must be able to speak in English, and other languages are appreciated.If you would like to be part of our Food Bank and help people living with food insecurity in our community, we would like to talk with you!
