Art Happening Bridgewater
Bridgewater, Nova Scotia

A group of citizens from across Bridgewater and the Municipality of Lunenburg have come together to create a thriving community art space in Bridgewater. After being inspired by the '<a title="" href="http://www.arthives.org/" target="_blank">Art Hive</a>' movement in Montreal a group of motivated and enthusiastic community members gathered for a few months in the spring/summer of 2014 to talk and vision around the idea of a free/low cost community space focused on creativity for people of all ages and backgrounds. The Bridgewater Public Library moved onto the LCLC and the downtown core has been really missing a community space for people to come together, meet the neighbours and share with each other.

The <a title="" href="http://www.smartbridgewater.ca/" target="_blank">Bridgewater Development Association</a> has been instrumental in helping gather people and support this initiative. The BDA recently identified a need to support and encourage the growth of Arts & Culture in the Bridgewater area. This project has been a result of establishing their Arts and Culture Action Team.

We are excited that this space will be FOR and BY the community. Knitters, musicians, crafters, artisans, painters and any type of creativity you can imagine will be welcomed. Supplies are provided but encourage others to bring and share as well! The calendar of events will be based on what the community wants to see happen. Open Mics, Workshops, Drinkin' Coffee, come explore the possibilities with us, because they are endless!

We need help from the community to volunteer their time so we can be open as much as possible. If you would like to volunteer with us please visit the <a title="" href="http://artinbridgewater.weebly.com/calendar--contact.html">contact us page </a>and submit the form, or stop by and say hello!

Mission

It has been said of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar that not since Mahatma Gandhi has one person united so many people of different races, religions, traditions, economic and social status, and nationalities, creating a One World spiritual family across the globe.
