Start2Finish’s mission is to break the cycle of child poverty by providing ongoing educational support to Canada’s at risk children throughout their school years, nurturing mind, body and social health so they are empowered to succeed and become role models for change. The Start2Finish Running & Reading Club is an innovative after-school program that effectively addresses the need for enhanced physical activity, literacy, and mentorship. The program targets elementary school aged children, grades 1-6, operating directly within schools once per week for 2 hours, from October to May.

The Mayflower, which houses six sheets of curling ice for leagues of all levels, is one of the largest curling clubs east of Ontario and one of the most well-known clubs in Canada. Teams representing Mayflower have proudly brought home banners for provincial, national, and world titles for decades. The club boasts an impressive roster of hosting several Canadian championship events, numerous provincial championship events, as well as national competitive events, including the 1995 TSN Skins Game, the 2002 Canadian Mixed, the 2011 Canada Winter Games (Curling Venue), and the 2014 Travelers Canadian Club Championships. In January of 2016 and 2017 the Mayflower proudly hosted the Nova Scotia Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships, the first time these events were held concurrently. The Mayflower clubhouse has two lounges, a bar, a full-service kitchen, and a pro shop. The Mayflower was founded in in 1905 and is a landmark in our city’s rich history. In 1912 the ice shed was used as a morgue for victims of the infamous Titanic sinking, and just five years later the club was destroyed in the devastating Halifax explosion. The Mayflower was rebuilt on Agricola Street, where it remained until moving to its present location on Monaghan Drive in 1962. The Mayflower Curling Club is a not-for-profit organization, governed by its Board of Directors as directed by the membership. The Board is made up of an Executive (President, Past President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) and seven additional Directors (Membership, Curling, Day Ladies, Juniors, Property and Ice, Social, and Marketing). The General Manager is responsible for daily operations and reports to the Board. Our membership is our most valued asset at the club. Today the club includes over 400 adult members and over 100 youth members that participate in leagues each day of the week.

ABOUT THE HALIFAX FRINGE FESTIVAL The Halifax Fringe is an annual performing arts festival. Since 1990, we have presented an accessible, un-juried, and uncensored festival. The Fringe includes theatre, music, circus, dance, comedy, and more. The Halifax Fringe presents local, national, and international artists. This coming year, the Halifax Fringe will be presented from September 3rd to 13th, 2026. MISSION The Halifax Fringe Festival creates spaces for everyone to express themselves through performance. VISION The Halifax Fringe Festival is a home for anyone to tell their story. We empower artists and audiences. By prioritizing our core values of being un-juried, uncensored, and accessible, we aim to create a space that welcomes differences and celebrates expression. VALUES - Un-juried: Participants are selected by lottery. - Prioritizing Artists: 100% of the base ticket price goes directly to the artists. - Uncensored: Festival producers have no control over the artistic content of each performance. The artistic freedom of the participants is unrestrained. - Accessibility: The Festival must provide an easily accessible opportunity for all audiences and artists to participate. - Equity: The Fringe will promote and model inclusivity, diversity and multiculturalism, and will endeavour to incorporate them into all aspects of our organization.

We are a charity helping support the local community in Halifax. We take place in projects ranging from providing winter clothes for the homeless to assisting pet owners in need to afford medical procedures for their pet. We strive to help support the community and make sure no one is left behind disadvantaged due to their means.

Ronald McDonald House is a “home-away-from-home” for out of town families with sick children receiving vital medical treatment in Halifax. Our warm, welcoming and affordable accommodations help ease the heavy financial and emotional burdens placed on the hundreds of families who come through our doors each year.

Celebrating 100 years in 2018, the CNIB Foundation is a non-profit organization driven to change what it is to be blind today. We deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy that empower people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion. Our work as a blind foundation is powered by a network of volunteers, donors and partners from coast to coast to coast.

Alcare Place is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping men recover from addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling. Alcare Place opened in central Halifax in 1987 and since that time we have become a leader in the community with a client-centered, holistic approach to recovery from substance use and gambling disorders. Alcare Place is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors and is staffed by a diverse and qualified team dedicated to helping our clients through their recovery journey. Alcare Place can accommodate 11 residents, most of whom stay with us for one year. We offer Life Skills Programs, Relapse Prevention Programs, Goal Setting, Recreation, Relaxation & Meditation classes, Case Reviews, One-on-one Counseling, Narcotics Anonymous & Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Over the years, many men have entered our doors with a desire to rebuild their lives and learn more about awareness and prevention of addiction issues. After participating in the Alcare Place Recovery Program, many of our clients return to their respective communities as productive, contributing family members and citizens. Alcare Place provides a safe, stable and supportive environment where our clients are able to focus their energy towards healing, positive change and personal growth. In our many years of operating a recovery house, the one lesson that rings true is that our impact extends well beyond helping one person take back their life. We return husbands to their wives and partners, fathers to their children, sons and brothers to their families, skilled workers to their communities; and the benefits of recovery ripple outward over years touching countless lives.

ABOUT No Time for That is a registered Canadian charity founded by singer, songwriter, and motivational speaker Elsie Morden. During her senior year of high school in 2012, Elsie started sharing her story and songs with the “No Time for That” Tour and has now put on over 600 presentations free of charge across Canada. Elsie Morden and No Time for That hope to share their messages of empathy and empowerment with as many people as possible. MISSION To advance education about bullying prevention, mental health awareness, and youth empowerment by delivering seminars, workshops and presentations with personal stories and music to children, youth, educators, and the public. VISION A future where Canadians have no time for bullying, no time for stigma, and no time for the negative. VALUES Inclusion – we celebrate diversity and equality, and honour the inherent worth and dignity of all individuals. Passion – our presentation has been and always will be offered free of charge. We genuinely care about everyone affected by bullying and mental illness and want to make a positive difference in their lives. Leadership – we strive to be the best role models possible. As leaders, our goal is to inspire more leaders and world changers that will represent models of integrity to their peers, community, and the greater world.

Altruistic Current is an incorporated not-for-profit society designed to inspire kind and altruistic actions through education, promotion, and community-led initiatives.  Altruism is for everyone. We aim to improve the world one person, community, and country at a time. Reflect the world you want to see. We support initiatives and events that promote altruistic behaviour within the community.  Further, we unite a network of altruistic leaders with the goal of promoting positive community change and social growth.

Inspiring Hope and Dignity. The Brunswick Street Mission seeks to inspire a better quality of life through a ministry of care that addresses physical, emotional, practical and spiritual needs for those experiencing poverty. We serve those who struggle with poverty. Many are homeless, others are at risk of homelessness. There are individuals, couples, and families with children. Some work, others are on assistance, and others on disability or pension support. Their backgrounds are incredibly varied but they have in common that their present day is a struggle, and their future does not hold much promise.
