Athletics Nova Scotia is a non-profit amateur sport governing body affiliated with Athletics Canada, and a member organization of Sport Nova Scotia. Today, approximately three million Canadians, or one in 10 people, live in poverty. The Salvation Army recognizes that poverty is a critical issue, and that everyone has a right to access basic necessities such as nutritious food, health care, education and economic opportunity.
The Youth Project is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing support and services to youth, 25 and under, around issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. We have a provincial mandate so although we are located in HRM, we travel around the province to meet with youth in other communities. We provide a variety of programs and services including support groups, referrals, supportive counselling, a resource library, educational workshops, social activities.

The Junior League of Halifax is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Halifax reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism.
Chebucto Family Centre provides free support to families and community members through the delivery of capacity building programs and services.
The Do it for Dads Walk Run 5KM is a fun, family-friendly event, hosted on Father’s Day, that raises awareness and funds for the leading cancer affecting Canadian men and the families that love them.
Registration: $35 or fundraise $125 and waive your registration fee. Your donor dollars are having an impact on research that has the greatest potential to improve prostate cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment to ensure a better quality of life for survivors.
The mission of the NSAA is to:
- To increase public awareness of adult aphasia and other language disorders affecting people after stroke and other brain injuries.
- To support and/or provide community programs for people with aphasia and/or language disorders: communication groups, and relearning for speech, writing and reading.
- To provide information about resources to recover lost skills to the extent possible, to compensate for skills that will not be recovered and to minimize the psychosocial impact of the language impairment.
The NSAA vision
The Association:
- Increases public awareness of aphasia through education.
- Acts as an independent source of information for people with aphasia, families and/or caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the greater public.
- Promotes and supports the participation of people with aphasia in their own communities.

Nova Village NS (NVNS) is a community based non-profit organization est. in 1986. The family hub provides a variety of programs and services to families with youth, ages birth- 19.
What is the Dump and Run?
The Halifax Dump and Run is Halifax's largest community garage sale! Our goal is to divert waste from local landfills by collecting items people no longer have use for and selling them (discounted) at a gymnasium-sized indoor yard sale in order to raise money for charitable organizations. Last year over $13,000 was raised for charities throughout Nova Scotia.
Founded in 1994, the Environmental Services Association Maritimes (ESAM) has been operating for over 20 years as a not-for-profit business organization dedicated to the promotion of environmental products, services and organizations within the environmental industry.
Our Board brings a diverse skill set to ESAM, with representation from the Federal Government, academia, the consulting industry, and even business owners. The breadth of experience is impressive and includes expertise in the fields of environmental assessment, fisheries and wildlife, hazardous materials, site assessment, remediation, and research and development.
