Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia is a non-profit society that fosters the growth and development of safe and environmentally responsible, recreational stand up paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking in Nova Scotia; through training, promotion, advocacy and stewardship providing paddling opportunities and developing resources. Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia is the official voice of recreational canoeing and kayaking in the province. We are suported financially by members, and by the Office of Culture and Heritage.
We are a non profit organization whose main goal is to sponsor refugees to come to Nova Scotia and support refugees their settlement in the Halifax Regional Municipality. The organization run by volunteers. We are looking for volunteers to work in various positions such as: project management, program coordinator, administration work (virtual), settlement support persons, social marketing/computer science person (being a main contact person with our website developer and maintaining our FB page and creating and maintaining Twit & other social media accounts). All the work will be done virtually.
Catapult is a world-class program designed to give youth a life-changing opportunity to discover their potential, take charge of their lives and become empowered to make a difference. The program is a combination of inspiring presentations and exciting activities set in an atmosphere of fun and friendship. Our leadership program is offered absolutely free to 50 Nova Scotia students entering Grade 10 in September who have been nominated by their school because they have natural leadership qualities and the potential to become strong leaders but who would not normally have access to this type of opportunity due to circumstance such as economics, loss of family, geographic isolation, racial barriers, etc.
We are currently looking for camp counselors. Our camp counselors are volunteer mentors who become role models to the youth in our program. They work both independently and as a team to provide a stable, positive and often life-changing experience for our youth. This is a volunteer position – meals, accommodations and supplies are covered by Catapult and there is an honourarium of $800.
Catapult Camp – Monday, August 10 – Wednesday, August 19, 2026. (2 days of training Aug 10/11)
CeaseFire Halifax is a non-profit organization based in the Halifax Regional Municipality which focuses on eliminating violent behaviour among youth in African Nova Scotian communities. Our mission is to inspire change and encourage the use of non violent solutions.
