Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC) is the largest charitable funder of vision research in Canada.
Over our 50-year history, FBC has contributed critical funding for the development of sight-saving treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases. By raising and stewarding funds, FBC is helping drive forward research that supports our goal of understanding why vision loss occurs, how it can be slowed and how sight can be restored.
We are an invaluable resource for individuals and families impacted by blindness, providing accurate eye health information through our website and educational events, as well as engaging with government and other stakeholders to advance better vision health policies.
The Disaster Animal Response Team of Nova Scotia, founded in 2008, is a registered charity, that sets up and runs emergency shelters for pets in times of disaster. We are 100 % volunteer based, and welcome new members. Our organization also promotes emergency preparedness for pets and the importance of being prepared in case a disaster strikes in your area. Our Life Meters for Pets is part of a public education tool to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving pets in hot cars. The team behind the Virtual Vigil: Nova Scotia Remembers, have formed a non-profit legacy society to continue offering ongoing support to families and the communities affected by the tragedy that took place April 18-19, 2020 in rural Nova Scotia. Through resiliency of our communities we will grieve, support, and move forward together.
This society will focus on four main areas:
Coordinated Wellness, Emotional and Grief Support – For families of the victims as well as other affected individuals and communities. Ideally involve collaborating with community and other agencies or entities to provide grief counselling support, group services and other services and events to support the long term needs of those affected.
Community development – Financial support for organizations in the communities most affected by the tragedy. This includes activities and programs aimed at growing the social, economic and identity of the community. This element would focus on the West Colchester area but also include other affected communities.
Education – Support for surviving children, named memorial scholarships and other educational scholarships, bursaries, and supports in the community.
Memorial – Develop and construct one or more permanent memorials.
Love Caravan is a nonprofit organization from Vancouver with the goal of bridging the generational gap between youth and seniors. This summer we are going on a cross-country tour of senior residences to provide live entertainment and interactive activities from youth volunteers. ImmUnity Canada is a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides a community for people and families impacted by primary immunodeficiency (where part of the immune system is missing or does not function properly). We advocate for education, research, and support for PI patients. Together, we can give all Canadians with PI access to the resources they need to thrive.
ImmUnity Canada was founded in 1997 as the Canadian Immunodeficiency Patient Organization. We changed our name in 2022 to better reflect the work we do today!

ISCBC is a dynamic action-oriented organization, helping concerned stakeholders work together to stop the spread of invasive species in BC. We lead efforts encouraging people, businesses, government and industry to adopt simple practices that can make a huge impact in preventing the introduction and spread of invasive species.
We are a non-profit organization that is on a mission to document and record the history of the Pride Movement in Canada and educate all Canadians on the impact the Pride Movement has had on our gender, sexual, and relationship diverse community.
Girls Day Program is to enhance physical activity in young women across the maritimes.
The program includes different physically active activities, and social activities with girls between the ages of 7-13. High School and University students volunteer to help and empower the younger women.
We work together in community to build informed and caring gambling practices. We are NOT anti-gambling. We raise awareness of the risks and harms gambling can cause in local communities not only for individuals, but also for communities as a whole and seek to minimize these harms. Currently we are focusing on Youth Gambling issues, raising awareness though interactive video and workshops, researching the impact of online sports betting on youth, and gathering stories from across the province to illustrate how gambling harms affect us all, particularly youth.
We serve the whole province and meet virtually so all Nova Scotians are able to participate.
