ABOUT IECC IECC is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2013 and incorporated under laws of Canada. We offer to newcomers to Canada and other members of immigrant’s community, suitable employment and settlement programs that include career development and job skills trainings, job Interview preparation, language training, referral to other resources available in the community, foreign academic credentials translation and assessment, trade and occupations ISO certification training and employment counselling. IECC also provides opportunity to new immigrants to access the computer resources and Internet connection to conduct their job searches, to enroll to online courses and to connect with potential employers for interview or any job-related online meetings. IECC is implementing all its programs in Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Alberta.  New locations will be opened in Ontario, Winnipeg and Regina before December 31, 2020. IECC has a new volunteer program to help newcomers to gain Canadian work experience and to settle in their new environments. IECC MISSION STATEMENT ·         Advocate the well-being of newcomers to Canada and members of immigrant’s community. ·         Foster their full participation to the Canadian economy and help them to become financially self-sufficient. ·         Promote integration of new immigrants into Canadian labor market. ·         Encourage diversity, inclusion and respect of employment equity in Canadian workplace without discrimination. ·         Deliver programs and activities that stimulate multiculturalism and eradicate racism in Canadian workplace place and educational facilities. ·         Seek funding from government and/or other sources for the implementation of the aforementioned programs and community services. As an Africentric Institute, the DBDLI creates educational change and genuine opportunities for learners and communities of African ancestry to reach their full potential. Educational research is vital to achieving our vision. We conduct and disseminate learnings from that research providing policy analysis that informs policymakers, educators, parents and the general public on how to best improve educational opportunities and outcomes for Nova Scotian learners of African descent. The Institute works directly with African Nova Scotian / Canadian organizations, communities, government partners, and educational institutions to identify, develop and implement educational and community capacity enhancement policies, programs and services.

Team Rubicon is an international Disaster Response  registered charity that serves communities by mobilizing veterans, first responders and civilians to  leverage their skills and experience to help people prepare, respond, and recover from disasters and humanitarian crises.  Team Rubicon rapidly deploys emergency response teams, free of charge, to communities affected by disasters. Team Rubicon currently maintains a roster of 140,000 + North American volunteers able to deploy throughout Canada and the world.  We are building a Halifax based Disaster Response Team  and we are looking for a wide variety of skill sets and experience. We provide the training. We cover the costs of deployment,  and we provide the opportunities to be there for people on their worst days. Join us today!  

Metro Care & Share Society is a registered non-profit organization that has been active since 1984 as a fundraising organization for youth education, and community initiatives and partnerships. The Halifax Scholars Program is the most recent initiative which aims at eradicating poverty through educational advancement. The program pays for tuition and living expenses for the scholars throughout the academic year. These are the students who otherwise would not be able to attend post-secondary education. The program currently has eight scholars; one recently graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. There are currently two more enrolled at St. Mary’s University, two at St. Francis Xavier University, two at Dalhousie University and one at Université Sainte-Anne.

MS Canada provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. We have a membership of over 7,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of MS Canada has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government. MS Canada is governed by a board of directors comprised of 14 volunteer members who are elected annually. Some 1,500 volunteers serve on MS Canada national, division and chapter boards and committees. An estimated 13,500 women and men are volunteers for service programs, fundraising events, public awareness campaigns and social action activities. The Navy League Cadet Corps are managed and supervised by adult volunteers who are enrolled as Navy League Officers or Navy League Instructors. Officers are granted warrants by the League, wear naval pattern uniforms and use naval ranks followed by a Navy League (NL) designator. Navy League Officers are not members of the Canadian Armed Forces. All Navy League volunteers are provided opportunities for development of skills that will undoubtedly benefit you in your career as well. These include home study and weekend training in leadership and instructional techniques.
