Jost Mission Day Care Society (dba Edward Jost Children’s Centre) According to the historical records, the Edward Jost Children’s Centre was founded in the 1860s by Halifax businessman Edward Jost. Originally located on Brunswick Street in Halifax; the current location of the Halifax Metro Centre. Amongst it’s charitable works, Edward Jost’s mission provided childcare and, in 1910, it opened a nursery school and after school program. Today the Edward Jost Children’s Centre in located in Spryfield, NS and is the oldest daycare in metro Halifax. A non-profit daycare centre with over 100 years of providing quality childcare to the local people of Halifax. In 2011 it opened it’s second building right next door, Edward Jost Annex. Currently with the two centres we have 108 licensed spaces for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Edward Jost Chidren’s Centre and Edward Jost Annex are one of the most modern and educationally orientated child care centres in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Eating Disorders NS is a local organization dedicated to supporting those impacted by eating disorders. We believe that no-one should have to face an eating disorder alone. We are here to help. We work to raise awareness and understanding around eating disorders, and to support those impacted. We provide peer support groups, one-on-one mentoring and family peer support groups

In the simplest terms, a Community Health Board is the eyes, ears, and voice for the community’s health. Together with other groups, the Board engages community members in understanding the community health needs and then supports many different community initiatives that aim to improve health in the local community.

The Eastern Passage Food Security Society is a community-driven non-profit dedicated to ensuring equitable access to nutritious food. We focus on building sustainable, intergenerational connections through initiatives like our community fridge, mobile food security unit, and accessible gardening projects. Easter Seals Nova Scotia provides services, training,  employment support, recreational programs and mobility devices to persons with disabilities. Located in Dartmouth, ESNS is the home of Nova SCotia's oldest social enterprise, New Leaf.

Easter Seals provides programs and services to people living with disabilities through our 4 pillar programs: Take Part - recreation opportunities for those living with disabilities, Camp Tidnish - fully accessible overnight summer camp for people of all ages, Assisted Mobility - providing assisted mobility devices and health care equipment to those who need them whether that be wheel chairs, walkers, speech software, ramps, fences, etc. and New Leaf - provides life enhancement, job skills and supported employment opportunities for adults and youth with disabilities

The East Coast Ukrainian Association is a registered non-profit organization in Halifax, NS. WHO WE ARE We advance Ukrainian cultural presence and contribute to the diversity of Nova Scotia’s cultural landscape through establishing annual cultural events such as the East Coast Ukrainian Festival, Ukrainian Christmas Market, Ukrainian Easter Market, and charitable concerts. We bring our community together by providing opportunities to participate in both organizing and attending these events. OUR VALUES On a volunteer and non-profit basis, the objective/s of the society is/are: To support, promote, and share Ukrainian culture in the Province of Nova Scotia by organizing annual cultural events such as East Coast Ukrainian Festival and other events that contribute to the cultural diversity of the Atlantic region; To strengthen the sense of cultural identity, belonging, and social ties within the Ukrainian community in Nova Scotia and Atlantic region through volunteer participation in cultural, social, and community events organized and supported by the Society; To commit surplus funds to supporting Ukraine and Ukrainian people. The East Coast Ukrainian Association is governed by the volunteer Board of Directors. East Coast Environmental Law Association, established in 2007, responds to community inquiries, carries out legal and policy research and presents educational resources and opportunities to increase public awareness of environmental laws in Atlantic Canada. Our objective is to build capacity in the public and among legal practitioners so that we can work together to ensure that environmental laws are effectively used and strengthened. Through its workshops, inquiry line and projects, ECELAW's work touches on a variety of wide-ranging issues of lasting public importance including water, fisheries, mining, energy, protected places, species at risk, and environmental assessment.

Earth Rangers is an environmental non-profit that empowers youth to take action for the environment. Our ER Teens program offers an opportunity for young Canadians aged 13-18 to take initiative for environmental causes they care about, such as wildlife conservation, climate change, sustainability, and more. By working remotely with staff, teens volunteer their time to complete an eco-action project of their choice; at home, at school, in their community, or online. Our flexible program ensures that teens can work at their own pace, while having the support and resources they need to make a positive impact.
