Osteoporosis Canada is the only national organization serving people who have, or are at risk for, osteoporosis. The organization works to educate, empower and support individuals and communities in the risk-reduction and treatment of osteoporosis. With your help, we teach Canadians how to improve their bone health so osteoporosis can never take hold. We support those already diagnosed, and work to improve their quality of life. And we pursue research and treatment breakthroughs that keep more people healthy. Together, we will help make Canadians unbreakable.

Established in 1986, Options offers a unique opportunity to learn the basic skills required to find and maintain a structured, yet supportive environment. The integrated training program treats participants as employees and includes educational upgrading, life skills development, and workforce development skills in five employment areas: Building Maintenance, Customer Service, Food Service, Basic and Advanced Office Skills, and Bakery Production. Options is opened to individuals 16 years of age and older who are facing persistent multiple barriers to employment.  Research shows that industry-based employment models that combine training and skills development benefit the workforce and the employer.

A community organization dedicated to sponsoring and settling refugees in Halifax.

Open Harbour works to sponsor a refugee group to begin a new life in Halifax each year. A sponsorship starts on the day of arrival and extends for the 12 months afterward. It includes financial, social, and emotional support. We greet our new Nova Scotians at the airport, set them up with a furnished apartment, enroll them in job training and English classes, help them get to medical appointments, register their children in school - and a lot more!  OUR MISSION To privately sponsor and resettle refugees to Halifax irrespective of circumstances or creed.  To coordinate the settlement, integration, and empowerment of the new Nova Scotians we sponsor.  To spread awareness of issues affecting refugees.

Ocean View is a 171-bed long term care home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.  Our vibrant community has over 20 local shops and restaurants, creating a dynamic and engaging environment for both staff and residents. Your work at Ocean View will be meaningful as a part of our diverse team includes professionals from nursing, clinical dietetics, physiotherapy, recreation therapy, music and spiritual care, occupational therapy, long-term care assistants, and an active volunteer program. Ocean View relies on the passion and dedication of amazing volunteers to ensure our residents can live well in the place they call home. The volunteen program first began at Ocean View Continuing Care in 1995 and since inception over 500 youth have participated. Our volunteen program is a great way for teens to earn volunteer hours, build confident, make friends, and bring joy to others. Some of the opportunities available are: Recreation: Supporting residents in attending activities such as bingo, music, outings, special events, etc. Cafe: Assisting with sales, replenishing shelves, chat with residents, family, and staff Gardening: Providing assistance with indoor and outdoor plant/flower upkeep Friendly Visiting: Visiting and spending time with Residents, walks, reading, playing cards, etc. Spiritual Care: Providing encouragement and portering support to church services and weekly hymn sing. Ocean View is a charitable organization that has been operating since the early 1960’s. We are pleased to be a trusted provider of a variety of services, predominately for seniors and others folks that need a little extra help in day to day living. Ocean View operates the very first nursing home in Nova Scotia to be granted “Accreditation” by Accreditation Canada in 1974, a standard of excellence that we still celebrate and achieve to this day. Between in care living and community supports, we proudly serve over 500 individuals each year through our 320+ staff and 100+ volunteers. Our vision is to be the “community of choice” for Nova Scotians needing support in a place they call home.

Nova Village NS (NVNS) is a community based non-profit organization est. in 1986. The family hub provides a variety of programs and services to families with youth, ages  birth- 19.

Nova Scotia’s Finest Symphony of Young People The NSYO provides a high-level orchestral experience for talented young musicians aged 12 -26. Since 1976, the orchestra has performed hundreds of concerts and has over 800 alumni across the world.

The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame's mission is to honour, preserve, and promote the sport history of Nova Scotia. This mission is accomplished through an annual induction recognizing Hall of Famers, along with the following services that are provided free of charge to the public: a museum that is open year-round in the Scotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax, an artifact collection that is available for viewing online, research and archival materials that are available upon request, and an education program that travels across the province.

The Nova Scotia SPCA is an animal welfare organization committed to the protection of animals from cruelty.   The Nova Scotia SPCA supports and promotes protection for all animals from distress, humane education and operates no kill shelters where euthanasia is only considered for mercy or aggression.  The NS SPCA operates a net work of six animal shelters across the Province, education services, animal protection programs, trap neuter and release programs and spay/neuter services for low income families.  The SPCA relies on community support to fund its programs.
