Helping hands to help at Acadia Park - Spring clean the gardening beds, help distribute 100 pre-ordered rain barrels at Acadia Park

Description: Details of the event... Monday April 22, 4 pm to 8 pm. Earth Day! 650 Sackville Drive, Acadia Park Truckload Rain Barrel Fundraiser for Sackville Community Food Garden and Social Marketplace Society. Rain barrels with accessories and tax are $55 each at www.RainBarrel.ca/SocialMarket. At the event volunteers are... -helping gardeners clean out the beds -helping people who are picking up their pre-ordered rain barrel OR people who are buying one at the event -helping people get their barrel to their car (a rain barrel will fit in the back seat of most cars) -helping at the canteen -helping at the Social Market table distribute bubble wand and bubbles to children, distribute the Social Market News, sell raffle tickets. No one works alone. Relaxed atmosphere.

Description: Each month the Social Market is held in and around Beaver Bank and Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. The tables are given free of charge to fundraisers and non-profits promoting their cause. The Social Market is looking for individuals who would like to volunteer for two to five hours on one Saturday. Sign up for one month or sign up for many months. Your choice. Volunteers are never alone, a very easy gig, lots of laughs and everyone is a volunteer. A very social Social Market that leaves you feeling great. Thank you! The next Social Market is at the Sackville Lion's Club on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

Terry Fox Run Event Day Volunteer

Description: The 2019 Halifax Terry Fox Run is looking for volunteers to help us on event day! This year's run will take place in Point Pleasant Park with registration beginning at 10:00 a.m. on September 15 and the event will go until ~2:00 p.m. If you're looking for a great cause or just to add to your resume, this event is the one for you. Volunteers roles include: site set-up, registration, route marshals, refreshments, and site tear-down. Time commitments differ depending on the role. Dog Walkers & In-Home Support Volunteers Needed - Elderdog Canada Halifax PAWD

Description: Do you love walking or running?  Do you love dogs?  The Elderdog Canada Halifax PAWD is currently in need of volunteers for its In-Home Support program.  This program provides free assistance with basic dog care for seniors living in the HRM.    Our volunteers typically walk dogs but some also provide help with feeding, giving medications or transporting dogs to vet/grooming appointments.  We help seniors maintain their important bond with their dog, when caring for that dog becomes a challenge.  Our volunteers are expected to commit to at least one hour per week on a regular basis.  New volunteers must complete an application (found on the Elderdog Canada website) and a vulnerable persons sector check.   For more information, please email elderdog.halifaxpawd1@gmail.com

Foster Homes Needed - Elderdog Canada Halifax PAWD

Description: Elderdog Canada Halifax PAWD is seeking volunteer applicants for its foster home program.  As a foster parent, you will provide a safe and caring home for senior dogs that may arrive at our program needing temporary shelter while their senior owner is ill or in hospital.  Elderdog provides support with care requirements (e.g. vet, food, etc).  You must be comfortable caring for an older dog and live within an hour of HRM.  All new foster parent volunteers have to complete an Elderdog Canada application, and a vulnerable persons sector check.  When approved you will be placed on a waiting list until a foster placement is required.  For more information, please email elderdog.hfxpawd1@gmail.com
