Volunteer with ACNS at the Halifax Pride Festival - BBQ - Parade Float - Info Booth

Description: We are looking for volunteers to help out on Halifax Pride Parade Day: Saturday, July 20. Canada Day Breakfast with Brunswick Mission

Specialized Equipment Program administrative volunteeer

Description: The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking volunteer drivers for the Specialized Equipment Loan Program. Reporting to the Service Centre Coordinator, this position assists with visiting long term care facilities to ensure that Red Cross specialized equipment is properly tagged, and to pick up health equipment that is ready for return.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Transport health equipment to various locations. Meets with Long Term Care facility representatives or clients to complete equipment tagging. Follows Red Cross policies and procedures Reports health and safety concerns as per internal reporting procedure. Observes routine precautions in the handling of used equipment including use of required personal protective equipment and hand hygiene. Qualifications A minimum of 2 years’ safe driving experience. Strong customer service skills. A valid provincial driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s abstract is required. A satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check is required. Experience with seniors, cognitively impaired and physically disabled clients would be considered an asset. Able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Working Conditions The majority of the work is performed in an office environment, long term care facility, warehouse space or vehicle, which are mostly clean and comfortable. Hours of work for this position is four hours or more per week and may vary.
