Love Caravan is a nonprofit organization from Vancouver dedicated to bridging the generational gap between youth and seniors. This August, we’re embarking on a nationwide tour to senior communities and homes all over Canada. Our groups consists 10-15 students and the event will have an hour of performance followed by an hour of interactive activities. We’d love to know if you have any volunteers that may be interested in performing or partaking in general volunteer activities at a senior home in Halifax anytime on August 31st, or the morning of September 1st. We're specifically looking for musicians and dancers among other general volunteers.
Lucasville Community Association is looking for volunteers to help paint a community recreation center inside. This should be a 1 day only if we have many hands. The start date of this project is December 12/2015 at 8:30 am.

From our main office in Halifax, we serve all Nova Scotians with lung disease through help from generous donors. Our focus is simple: offer the best programs and services in lung health possible, advocate for better lung health research and put the money we receive in areas that directly help Nova Scotians live healthier and breathe easier.
Lung Cancer Canada is a registered national charity that serves as Canada’s leading resource for lung cancer education, patient support, research and advocacy. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Lung Cancer Canada has a wide reach that includes both regional and pan-Canadian initiatives. Lung Cancer Canada is a member of the Global Lung Cancer Coalition and is the only organization in Canada focused exclusively on lung cancer.
MS Canada provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. We have a membership of over 7,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of MS Canada has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.
MS Canada is governed by a board of directors comprised of 14 volunteer members who are elected annually.
Some 1,500 volunteers serve on MS Canada national, division and chapter boards and committees. An estimated 13,500 women and men are volunteers for service programs, fundraising events, public awareness campaigns and social action activities.

Along with the national office, eight regional chapters grant magical wishes to children in need from coast-to-coast. Make-A-Wish Canada is an affiliate of Make-A-Wish® International, the largest wish-granting organization in the world, making dreams and wishes come true for more than 450,000 children since 1980.

Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces grants wishes to Atlantic Canadian children between the ages of 3 to 17 who are living with a life-threatening medical condition to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy.
The Dragonboat Festival is an annual event which raises money for the Nova Scotia Amateur Spot Fund. The goals of the fund are described below.
<div>To supplement the opportunity for Nova Scotian athletes, coaches and officials to train compete and develop at/to a level that will advance them to comparable Canadian standards of excellence.</div>

<div>To ensure that Sport Nova Scotia and its broad-based membership (including community and provincial sport organizations), can develop and deliver innovative participation programs that enhance the provincial sport system.</div>

<div>To enhance funding for programs and services integral to sport delivery in Nova Scotia.</div>

<div>To stimulate the commitment and training required to achieve levels of performance that demonstrate a measurable improvement in athletic competition or organizational capacity building that leads to a better sport delivery system in Nova Scotia.</div>

<div>To not duplicate current sport funding, educational sources and professional fees. The Sport Fund through Sport Nova Scotia will work with other funding organizations, departments, and agencies (Nova Scotia Health Protection and Promotion, Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, Sport Canada, Coaching Association of Canada, Canadian Olympic Committee, and Sport Canada) to try and ensure the most efficient allocation of resources in the sport system. The Sport Fund will maintain its ability to fund outside of established programs in order to support programs and services it deems significant and/or exceptional.</div>
