A NS based nonprofit that trains and placed medical service dogs to disabled individuals. We are a very small, close knit group. Our main program is training Mobility Dogs for Ehlors-Danlos Syndrome. Our other program places medical service dogs with survivors of sexual violence who have become disabled due to their conditions (ex. PTSD, mobility, brain injury).
We are completely volunteer run and always looking to expand out team!
Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia is a non-profit society that fosters the growth and development of safe and environmentally responsible, recreational stand up paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking in Nova Scotia; through training, promotion, advocacy and stewardship providing paddling opportunities and developing resources. Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia is the official voice of recreational canoeing and kayaking in the province. We are suported financially by members, and by the Office of Culture and Heritage.

Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! is Canada's largest sports festival, and we are looking for volunteers just like you this June 16th to 19th on the Halifax Common! It's the ultimate summer street hockey experience, and you can be a part of it as a Play On! Halifax Volunteer! Since the program's inception in 2003, over two million people have participated in one of the 144 Play On! events held to date. The 2016 Halifax event is expecting 600 teams playing on 55 Rinks with 4,400 players and up to 20,000 spectators and we need YOU as a Play On! Halifax Volunteer! The Dragonboat Festival is an annual event which raises money for the Nova Scotia Amateur Spot Fund. The goals of the fund are described below.
To supplement the opportunity for Nova Scotian athletes, coaches and officials to train compete and develop at/to a level that will advance them to comparable Canadian standards of excellence.
To ensure that Sport Nova Scotia and its broad-based membership (including community and provincial sport organizations), can develop and deliver innovative participation programs that enhance the provincial sport system.
To enhance funding for programs and services integral to sport delivery in Nova Scotia.
To stimulate the commitment and training required to achieve levels of performance that demonstrate a measurable improvement in athletic competition or organizational capacity building that leads to a better sport delivery system in Nova Scotia.
To not duplicate current sport funding, educational sources and professional fees. The Sport Fund through Sport Nova Scotia will work with other funding organizations, departments, and agencies (Nova Scotia Health Protection and Promotion, Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, Sport Canada, Coaching Association of Canada, Canadian Olympic Committee, and Sport Canada) to try and ensure the most efficient allocation of resources in the sport system. The Sport Fund will maintain its ability to fund outside of established programs in order to support programs and services it deems significant and/or exceptional.
Since 1983, RNS has fostered and promoted road running all across Nova Scotia. From one running boom to the next, our mission has not wavered: to promote health, fitness, and camaraderie to people of all ages and abilities through the sport of road running. For close to 30 years, we've supported the unique needs and goals of anyone from Yarmouth to Sydney who has decided to lace up a pair of running shoes and join the thousands of other Nova Scotians running the roads.
RNS is a not-for-profit organization, a division of Athletics Nova Scotia, run entirely by volunteers. We offer a number of services that enrich the running community and enhance running events. For example, we organize the RNS Road Race Series — races from 1 mile to the marathon in locations across the province — providing guidance to race organizers and creating a festival atmosphere at each finish line. We also do community outreach, sharing our expertise and passion for running through seminars, clinics, and events.
The Mobile Food Market is a 21-week pilot project that sells fresh and affordable fruit and vegetables in communities across the Halifax region. Every Saturday, a Halifax Transit bus is transformed into a mobile fresh produce market. The Mobile Food Market stops in 5 communities; North and East Preston one week and Spryfield, Fairview and North End Halifax following week.
Athletics Nova Scotia is a non-profit amateur sport governing body affiliated with Athletics Canada, and a member organization of Sport Nova Scotia. The purpose of the Association is to develop, coordinate and promote track & field, road running and cross country running in Nova Scotia as outlined in our constitution

The Youth Project is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing support and services to youth, 25 and under, around issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. We have a provincial mandate so although we are located in HRM, we travel around the province to meet with youth in other communities. We provide a variety of programs and services including support groups, referrals, supportive counselling, a resource library, educational workshops, social activities.
