Welcome Housing & Support Services is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides long term, secure housing and support to low income, single individuals. Formerly known as Metro Non-Profit Housing Association, we have a long-standing and recognized commitment to the community we serve.
Not only do we support men and women obtain and maintain stable housing solutions, we also serve as advocates for social issues effecting our community (including safe, affordable housing and poverty-related issues).
Immigration Francophone Nouvelle-Écosse poursuit les objectifs suivants:
Accroitre et retenir le nombre de nouveaux arrivants d’expression française qui s’établissent en Nouvelle-Écosse,
Favoriser l’intégration de ces nouveaux arrivants dans la province, et plus spécifiquement au sein de la communauté acadienne et francophone,
Accroître la capacité d’accueil et d’intégration des communautés acadiennes et francophones de la Nouvelle-Écosse.
En tant que projet communautaire, et pour atteindre les objectifs visés, plusieurs organismes clés de la communauté se sont réunis sous un comité directeur afin de développer un plan d’action pour l’évolution du dossier de l’immigration francophone en Nouvelle-Écosse.

Free Geek’s mission is to sustainably reuse technology, enable digital access, and provide education to create a community that empowers people to realize their potential.
Technology is rapidly changing. Computers, monitors, printers, and other electronics are all being replaced every few years.
Free Geek is where retired electronic devices can find new life. Free Geek staff and volunteers will work hard to refurbish the electronics we receive. We will maintain strict data security standards when processing any data-bearing devices that pass through our facility. By choosing us as your e-cycler, your electronics will be properly disposed, or given back to the community through our digital inclusion programs.
The Social Marketplace Society promotes social spending.
Social spending is making a purchase ensuring the greatest possible amount of that money stays in your local community.
To promote social spending the Social Marketplace Society funds and organizes Our Social Market. Our Social Market is a monthly event inviting fundraisers to promote their cause and raise funds. Square Roots (Enactus, St. Mary's University) provides vegetable bundles for sale every month, there is a canteen, music, even a place to sit a spell. All tables are free. Admission is free.
Our fundraisers currently include:
-Truckload Rain Barrel campaign.
-My Social Market table at every market with a collection of donated crafts and other items; currently featuring "peace" inspired suncatchers by donation.
-My Smart Art Workbook series designed for children AND adults alike to do individually or as a group.

Solar Schools Canada – Les Écoles Solaires du Canada is a non-profit organization committed to climate action and education. We work with public schools to develop and fund solar panel installations to prevent emissions, enhance education, and reduce school operating costs. Equally, we work to develop and deliver curriculum aligned educational resources that leverage school-based solar panel installations to explore STEAM, environment, energy and sustainability subject matter. ISANS recognizes the key role of immigrants in Canadian society. We work with newcomers to help them build a future in Canada. We provide a wide range of services to immigrants, from refugee resettlement to professional programs, from family counselling to English in the Workplace.
Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia was created by the merger of Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association (MISA) and Halifax Immigrant Learning Centre (HILC) - together we have a combined experience of over fifty years serving immigrants in Nova Scotia. We are the largest immigrant-serving agency in Atlantic Canada with over 270 staff members from more than 64 countries. We offer services in an inclusive manner, respectful of, and sensitive to, diversity. We make partnership, professionalism and accountability a priority in every aspect of our work.
In order to preserve the historic features of the Shubenacadie Canal Waterway and to provide access to the waterway for the education and the enjoyment of the public, a Private Bill was introduced in 1986 to Establish the Shubenacadie Canal Commission.
According to the Act, the object and purpose of the Commission is to oversee and further promote the Shubenacadie Canal System including the operation of any information or interpretative centres pertaining to or belonging to the Shubenacadie Canal System.
Our mission is to preserve the historic features of the Shubenacadie Canal Waterway and to provide access to the waterway for the education and the enjoyment of the public. In order to achieve this, the Commission pursues the following objectives:
To carry out stabilization, preservation and restoration work to the locks and associated features including the dams, head ponds and channels.
To provide for the maximum practical use of the waterway by shallow draft watercraft.
To provide for the interpretation of sites for visitors.
To provide park-like settings for residents and tourists.
ABOUT THE HALIFAX FRINGE FESTIVAL
The Halifax Fringe is an annual performing arts festival. Since 1990, we have presented an accessible, un-juried, and uncensored festival. The Fringe includes theatre, music, circus, dance, comedy, and more. The Halifax Fringe presents local, national, and international artists. This coming year, the Halifax Fringe will be presented from September 3rd to 13th, 2026.

The Halifax Fringe Festival is a home for anyone to tell their story. We empower artists and audiences. By prioritizing our core values of being un-juried, uncensored, and accessible, we aim to create a space that welcomes differences and celebrates expression.

- Un-juried: Participants are selected by lottery.
- Prioritizing Artists: 100% of the base ticket price goes directly to the artists.
- Uncensored: Festival producers have no control over the artistic content of each performance. The artistic freedom of the participants is unrestrained.
- Accessibility: The Festival must provide an easily accessible opportunity for all audiences and artists to participate.
- Equity: The Fringe will promote and model inclusivity, diversity and multiculturalism, and will endeavour to incorporate them into all aspects of our organization.
The Sackville Heights Community Centre is a non-profit organization located in Middle Sackville. It's mission is "To provide facilities and programs to enhance the health, culture, wellness, and spirit of the members of the community of Sackville, Nova Scotia." The SHCC is home to various organizations within the community that vary from the Boys and Girls Club to the Sackville Seniors Advisory Council. SHCC runs recreational programs, workshops and various community style events such as it's Annual Family Fun Day and Community Yard Sales.
The Santa Paws Fundraiser is an annual fundraiser of the NS SPCA organized and implemented by volunteers of the NS SPCA.
The NS SPCA is a not for profit organization that rescues animals from dangerous and deplorable conditions across the province and provide them second chances; provides a safe haven for animals with nowhere else to go before finding their forever homes: food, bed, exercise, love, affection; Vets every animal that comes through the door including: spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping and overall health check; and works one-on-one with every animal to rebuild their trust in humans and ensure they are well prepared for the next stage of their life.
Apathy is Boring is a national, youth-led organization that works to empower and support young people to get involved in their communities and cities.
Halifax Crafters is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization with a mandate to encourage new artists and local art making.
Each year we organize two shows, one in the spring and one before the Christmas holidays. Our carefully curated and unique market is a place where established and emerging Crafters show their work side by side.
We strive to remain a financially accessible market for vendors while staying fresh, seeking out new talent and encouraging new craftspeople to enter the marketplace. We also strive to make the market accessible to the community by offering free admission.
