Today, Girl Guides of Canada continues to be a place that sparks the imagination of girls to take their place in the world and take action on what matters to them. As female role models, our adult Members support girls to achieve and succeed – through fun, adventures, challenges and international experiences. Guiding continues to play an important role in communities right across Canada.
At Girl Guides of Canada, girls from 5-17 meet with girls their own age in a safe, inclusive space to discover themselves, have fun, make friends and develop life skills. Each girl can explore everything she wants to be, in an all woman and girl environment environment that's designed to empower girls.
Guiding provides a safe environment that invites girls and young women to challenge themselves, find their voice, meet new friends, have fun and make a difference in the world. Guiding offers the widest range of activities of any extracurricular activity for girls and young women, with opportunities to explore the arts, sciences, outdoor challenges, global awareness and so much more through enriching experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Genealogy association at provincial level, that has as its mandate the support of family history and genealogical research in Nova Scotia, including public education, advocating standards for genealogical research.
The objectives of the Association are to promote the study of our Nova Scotian genealogical heritage for our members and the general public by:
- providing educational opportunities
- collecting and preserving genealogical material
- encouraging the study of Nova Scotia genealogy and family history
- furthering ethical practices and promoting scientific and effective techniques of genealogical research
- publishing and distributing genealogical materials
- acquiring real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable to meet these objectives.
Gardens of GRACE really falls under a couple of categories, as we are an advocacy group for stillbirth, miscarriage, pregnancy and child loss and the bereavement services available to parents of early loss. We are working with hospitals, gov't and community to promote awareness, change current practices and work at eliminating the taboo and stigma surrounding pregnancy loss.
We work together in community to build informed and caring gambling practices. We are NOT anti-gambling. We raise awareness of the risks and harms gambling can cause in local communities not only for individuals, but also for communities as a whole and seek to minimize these harms. Currently we are focusing on Youth Gambling issues, raising awareness though interactive video and workshops, researching the impact of online sports betting on youth, and gathering stories from across the province to illustrate how gambling harms affect us all, particularly youth.
We serve the whole province and meet virtually so all Nova Scotians are able to participate.
GLOCAL Foundation of Canada is a non-partisan, non-profit organization striving to empower residents in Canada to integrate a solid, creative domestic engagement with a nuanced global understanding in politics, business, academics and philanthropy.
We aim to provide innovative programs and cross-sectoral resources to encourage residents in Canada to be civically aware and democratically engaged . Our team is composed of staff, consultants, advisors, and volunteers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds who dedicate themselves in having Canadians’ voices heard and understood.
GLOCAL is a not-for-profit organization that promotes digital civic engagement through local participation and global understanding in Canada. We seek to promote digital citizenship, youth engagement, information accessibility and civic knowledge mobilization in Canada. Our digital initiatives and community outreach strive to improve the infrastructure and accessibility of public information in an effort to combat misinformation, information overload, and low-information rationality in the digital age.

Fusion Halifax is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that believes young leaders are an incredibly valuable part of any community. Fusion’s purpose is to empower young leaders to improve our communities. The best way to accelerate the pace of action in Halifax is to develop a network of strong and empowered young leaders with tools, skills and experience to become doers in their communities. We bring together emerging and experienced leaders across industries to exchange knowledge, and help our members reach their potential.
Frontier College is a non-profit "charity" (not your typical college). We provide FREE tutoring to UNDER-SERVED children, youth and adults in reading, writing, numeracy, homework, and English language skills.
In Halifax, every year we train 150 "volunteer tutors" who tutor the learners in community centres, schools and libraries. We have been in Nova Scotia for over 100 years.
Our tutors can choose from a variety of different volunteer opportunities. It is fun and rewarding, and addresses a growing need in our community.
