The Westend Community Food Bank is a volunteer operated food bank. We are located on 3495 McAlpine Street, in the neighbourhood between the Fairview Cemetery and the West End Mall in Halifax. We are open on Thursday mornings from 8:30 until noon and have approximately 125 clients who we distribute food to each week.
Nova Noble Cause Society (NNCS) is a group of passionate workers who give priority to mankind. Members of this society are enthusiastically supporting newcomers, children and elders to make Nova Scotia a beautiful place to live in. Our mission is to bring joy and happiness with art, culture, values & life-skill activities. Our aim is to remove the gaps among different generations and communities. With a clear vision, we focus on the needs of Senior Citizens, Students and Newcomers and to assist them to reach their potential.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Want to gain experience working at a film festival that celebrates diversity and cultural heritage right here in Halifax?
My East Coast Experience Media is looking for volunteers to help at the 4th Mosaic International Film Festival.
The festival will be taking place on Sunday, March 26, from 11am to 5pm, at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
About the festival:
The Mosaic International Film Festival, presented by the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, is a celebration of diversity in Halifax. It’s a forum for unique storytelling. A platform for filmmakers worldwide to share their stories, experiences, and cultural identities with the people of Nova Scotia, Canada, through the art of film.
Founded as a local event for filmmakers to promote their work, it has since evolved into an international festival, bringing together a broad range of cultures from around the world. Today, the festival is aimed at providing an immersive and educational experience to those involved in the filmmaking industry, as well as aspiring filmmakers and artists.
Volunteering at the festival:
Volunteer duties will include:
Greeting and checking in guests
Providing wayfinding services throughout the festival venue
Setting up and taking down corporate banners
Managing wireless microphones for panelists and audience members
Providing general operational support (runners that will be on hand to support with general needs)
Volunteer work will be split into two 4-hour volunteer shifts. Volunteers will be required to work on one of the following shifts:
Shift 1: 10am - 2pm
Shift 2: 1:30pm - 5:30pm
What we’re looking for:
Enthusiastic individuals who are committed to the tasks they are assigned, and who would like to get some first-hand experience at what it takes to run a film festival.

Every week throughout the year we get together for guided recreational walks, on one of the many beautiful and varied trails in Nova Scotia. We walk on Trailways, trails along the coasts, and rivers, and in forests, and wilderness areas. Our walks are usually 10 KM in length but sometimes longer.
