At the Canadian Cancer Society, we are committed to uniting and inspiring Canadians to take control of cancer. That’s why we are always funding high performance research that improves cancer outcomes and addresses the greatest opportunities for progress. It’s why we lead change in the most pressing areas of cancer policy including prevention, access, affordability and support. And it’s why we provide the highest quality cancer information for all Canadians, promote cancer prevention and provide targeted support to help people with cancer, their families and caregivers cope. We set ourselves apart from other cancer charities by taking a comprehensive approach against cancer.
In trusted partnership with donors and volunteers, we improve the lives or all those affected by cancer through world-class research, transformative advocacy and compassionate support.

Welcome to CIAD—Canadian Intervention and Assistance Dogs Society. In Gaelic, CIAD means “primary” or “first”. We felt that this name truly reflects our training school on a number of levels….first; we are a new school in Nova Scotia offering intervention and assistance dog training. Secondly, we are focusing on providing assistance (service) dogs to first responders who have sustained post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI) that are either cumulative (long-term over their career) or incidental (a specific event).
We are an incorporated not-for-profit society and operate following the Societies Act of Nova Scotia.
Follow along with us as we grow and consider becoming one of our supporters! There are many ways that you can help CIAD grow…by donating your time, talents or financial contributions to help us reach our goal of pairing service dogs with first responders.
The Canadian Intervention and Assistance Dogs (CIAD) is a not-for-profit society that aims to pair veterans and first responders with service dogs as part of their healing and treatment plan. CIAD was formed to help to bridge the gap between the need for high caliber service dogs and the low supply.
Our Vision -Â A world without liver disease.
Our Mission -Â Bringing liver research to life for all Canadians
Through research, we are able to improve prevention, screening, diagnostics and treatments in order to reduce the incidence and impact of liver disease.
Research is the key to minimizing the impact on people affected by liver diseases, but it’s only as good as its practical application. Through our advocacy, education and patient support efforts, we share the knowledge gained through research to improve the lives of liver disease patients and protect others who are at risk. At the same time, we seek to eliminate the barriers that may limit patients’ access to research breakthroughs.
Our Mandate - The Canadian Liver Foundation’s mandate is to promote liver health and reduce the incidence and impact of liver disease by providing support for research and education into the causes, diagnoses, prevention and treatment of liver disease.
