Affirmative Ventures Association is an innovative, non-profit, organization that helps mental health consumers, and people with disabilities, achieve economic independence in the province of Nova Scotia.

We have a successful track record of creating social enterprises that generate employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, helping them grow personally and professionally. We also provide housing opportunities through our growing number of housing units. The outcome of the joint efforts from employment and housing is to see participants of our programs achieve independence.

Alice Housing

Alice Housing is a non-profit organization that provides safe second stage housing and supportive counselling for women and children in Nova Scotia, so they may begin a new life away from intimate partner violence. Second-stage housing is an interim step between an emergency shelter and independent living. Alice Housing manages 18 apartment units located throughout Halifax Regional Municipality. Since their inception in 1983, Alice House has won awards from Charity Intelligence Canada, the Better Business Bureau, and the Donner Canadian Foundation.

Dartmouth Housing is a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing established in 1982. The majority of our properties are 3 or 4 bedroom duplexes, all within Dartmouth. The organization was established to fill the housing demand for families that did not have sufficient earned income to obtain decent, adequate and safe living accommodations.

Our mandate is to provide safe, affordable housing for low and middle income working families.

Habitat for Humanity Canada's vision, mission and values are delivered by Habitat for Humanity affiliates that work in over 300 communities across Canada. Habitat for Humanity Canada affiliates select and prepare partner families for homeownership, manage the construction of Habitat homes, and hold partner family mortgages. They play a vital role at the local level by engaging community volunteers, securing resources, increasing the profile of Habitat for Humanity and raising awareness about the issue of affordable homeownership in their communities.

In Nova Scotia Habitat for Humanity provides Affordable homeownership opportunities for low income working Nova Scotia families. With the help of volunteer builders, sponsor money and donor materials we construct energy efficient affordable homes for purchase by low income families. It is part of our mandate to provide educational opportunities on home maintenance and budgeting for homeownership.

Wilderness Stays Limited
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Wilderness Stays Limited will be a sustainable, glamorous campground located in East Dover, Nova Scotia. Manager of the company, Dave Cahill, will be building all-season tents, making Wilderness Stays a year-round attraction. The tents will be fitted with fixtures that keep the spirit of the 21<sup>st</sup> century close, yet distant to allow for a relaxing getaway. Wilderness Stays Limited campground will feature stone pathways, walking trails, community activities, tents, tipis, rocket mass heaters, and beautiful variations of furniture.
