The IWK Foundation is looking for volunteers at the Mercy Dance Competition which will run from May 14 to May 17 at Lighthouse Arts Centre. **Competition runs 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., however we only attend for the peak hours of competition as well as coordinate volunteers to assist. Approximate schedule below:Thursday, May 14th: 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.Friday, May 15th: 5 p.m. -8 p.m. Saturday, May 16th: 12 p.m.-3 p.m. and 6p.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday, May 17th: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.During the shift, the job is to greet/say hi to people and promote the dance marathon program at our table that is set up in the lobby of the competition.Dance Marathon is a one-size-fits-all program that encourages holding movement focused events to raise funds for children’s hospitals. This can be anything from a dance party or class, an exercise class or an ongoing digital fundraiser. Halifax! We are in need of a Check-in Lead for the 30th Anniversary Gutsy Walk on June 7th! We’re looking for an organized, friendly volunteer to help run our check-in booth and welcome walkers to the event. This role includes:• Supporting a smooth check-in process• Handing out participant t-shirts• Handling cash donations and completing deposits• Helping create an amazing event experience for our communityVirtual and on-site training will be provided, so no previous experience is needed! The 2026 Halifax MS Walk is taking place Sunday, May 31st at 2:00 PM at Acadia Park. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help us bring this event to life! MS Walk is a one-day event held at over 50 locations across Canada, bringing together people impacted by multiple sclerosis. On May 31st, gather your friends, family, and coworkers for a day of meaningful action. There are various areas where volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience. Catapult is a world-class program designed to give youth a life-changing opportunity to discover their potential, take charge of their lives and become empowered to make a difference. The program is a combination of inspiring presentations and exciting activities set in an atmosphere of fun and friendship. Our leadership program is offered absolutely free to 50 Nova Scotia students entering Grade 10 in September who have been nominated by their school because they have natural leadership qualities and the potential to become strong leaders but who would not normally have access to this type of opportunity due to circumstance such as economics, loss of family, geographic isolation, racial barriers, etc.We are currently looking for camp counselors. Our camp counselors are volunteer mentors who become role models to the youth in our program. They work both independently and as a team to provide a stable, positive and often life-changing experience for our youth. This is a volunteer position – meals, accommodations and supplies are covered by Catapult and there is an honourarium of $800.Catapult Camp – Monday, August 10 – Wednesday, August 19, 2026. (2 days of training Aug 10/11) At Camp Counselors are expected to:· Actively participate during on-site training before camp begins· Work cooperatively with the staff team to create a memorable experience· Help with both set up and tear down of camp· Get to know all campers and encourage timid campers to participate· Participate in daily staff meetings· Assist teaching resources as needed and actively participate in programming· Monitor youth wakeups and curfews· Provide general supervision and discipline· Facilitate free time options· Moderate daily Family Shares
