Emera Blue Nose Marathon
Hoot! Hoot! Calling all night owls, this volunteer opportunity is for you. Now in its sixth year, this race will take place at 7:30 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Point Pleasant Park. APPLY NOW AT https://glocalfoundation.ca/online-volunteering GLOCAL Foundation of Canada (www.glocalfoundation.ca) is a remote non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals in Canada and abroad to enhance and utilize their digital civic engagement skills, fostering a better understanding of Canada and Canadian issues across six key areas. We offer flexible volunteer opportunities to develop and use your existing skills in Research, Communications, Outreach, Digital Design, Data, and Compliance. These roles provide valuable experiences to learn new skills and the chance to use your knowledge and expertise to contribute to meaningful projects. In addition to project work, GLOCAL offers structured professional development through volunteer-exclusive workshops, guest speaker sessions, and skill-building events hosted throughout the year. Scope of the responsibilities: - Work closely with the GLOCAL Research Manager and supervisors to gather information and write reports on Canadian issues. - Conduct research and understand the political environment of the country. This includes but is not limited to research on local issues, provincial policy concerns, and regional politics. - Provide support in GLOCAL’s social media engagement, create infographics, and produce short videos on social causes. - Assist in community engagement and outreach at the local level. - Gather, analyze, and present data findings through creating visualizations. Successful applicants will have the following qualifications: - Good oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. - A passion for creative writing, community engagement and partnerships development. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. - Strong intercultural understanding. - Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment. - Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. - Professionalism, punctuality, and reliability. Ongoing support will be offered to ensure holistic development of the volunteer in capacities relevant to the position. Volunteers will receive support and direction, as well as targeted opportunities and guidance for personal growth and development, such as future career planning. We aim to make this a comprehensive learning experience for all volunteers.

Through creative social events, reflective activities, and guided conversations, we bring people together in a world where loneliness is common and authentic connection is rare. Role & Responsibilities As a founding Board Director, you will help shape the foundation of the Human Connection Club. Responsibilities may include: - Providing strategic guidance as HCC formalizes as a non-profit society - Supporting the development of governance, structure, and policies - Attending quarterly board meetings (virtually or in-person) - Offering insight in your area of expertise (finance, operations, community, events, mental health, etc.) - Helping ensure the organization stays aligned with its mission and values - Encouraging an environment of compassion, creativity, and collaboration Commitment - Approximately 3–5 hours per month - 1-year volunteer term, with the option to renew - Flexible and supportive environment — we honor boundaries, balance, and wellbeing What You’ll Be Part Of Joining HCC means joining a movement. Every year, the Valley Harvest Marathon is made possible by the generosity of hundreds of volunteers. We have dedicated groups who help year after year, including ICE Cheerleading, the Shriners, Kingsport Fitness and Wellness, Triton Swim, Horton D1 Girls Volleyball, and many individuals who make this event possible. To all of our incredible volunteers over the years, thank you! This year, we have lots of volunteers needs. If you have some free time on race weekend or leading up to, we would appreciate your help! Our volunteer needs include: - Participant kit assembly - Kit Pick Up at Dartmouth and Wolfville locations - Site set up and support for all races - Course marshalling - Cycle support - Food services - Medal presenting - And more!
