2b theatre company is a driving artistic voice, bringing innovative works of great ambition, rigour, care, and impact to the world stage. 2b theatre company strives to stimulate the mind and awaken the spirit by producing theatre that is innovative and challenging. We create, produce, present, and tour original work nationally and internationally. Our work is part of the evolution of contemporary theatre aesthetics. We are also an incubator, central to a thriving national theatre community, that offers a range of creation, performance, and production opportunities for arts professionals from our region and beyond.
The Medavie Blue Nose Marathon is the largest annual running and walking event in Atlantic Canada! Known as “The People's Marathon,” the Blue Nose Marathon welcomes participants of all ages, abilities and fitness levels to celebrate healthy living and active lifestyles. Blue Nose Marathon is a community based and volunteer-driven organization. How it began: Legend has it, back in the age of sail when the sea was at the core of our existence, mariners would arrive in the port of Halifax with noses stained blue by the dye of their peacoat sleeves – the perfect substitute for a handkerchief. It is in their name we run: Blue Nose. It began with a dream – that Halifax have its own annual marathon. Realizing that there were many races around the world, we came up with a unique idea. Our marathon would be part of a weekend of events promoting and celebrating healthy living and active lifestyles. As well, we would encourage everyone in our community and beyond to get involved as a volunteer, sponsor, spectator, or participant, be it as a runner, walker, or Nordic walker. With the help of more than 1,000 volunteers, there are six running events (5KM, 10KM, 21.1KM , 42.2KM, team relay, youth run-4KM and 2KM) taking place during the Victoria Day weekend. There is also an Active Living Expo that spans two days with more than 80 booths. The Giv’er Charity Challenge has grown to over 80 charities that collectively have raised over $500,000.
Ocean View is a 171-bed long term care home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.  Our vibrant community has over 20 local shops and restaurants, creating a dynamic and engaging environment for both staff and residents. Your work at Ocean View will be meaningful as a part of our diverse team includes professionals from nursing, clinical dietetics, physiotherapy, recreation therapy, music and spiritual care, occupational therapy, long-term care assistants, and an active volunteer program. We also take pride in our volunteer-run on-site café, offering lunch, snacks, and coffee and everyone loves our free parking! Ocean View relies on the passion and dedication of amazing volunteers to ensure our residents can live well in the place they call home. No matter what type of role you have with us, you will be enriching lives through your daily interactions. For this reason, we want to make sure you feel valued when you volunteer at Ocean View. The volunteen program first began at Ocean View Continuing Care in 1995 and since inception over 500 youth have participated. Our volunteen program is a great way for teens to earn volunteer hours, build confident, make friends, and bring joy to others. Some of the opportunities available are: Recreation: Supporting residents in attending activities such as bingo, music, outings, special events, etc. Cafe: Assisting with sales, replenishing shelves, chat with residents, family, and staff Gardening: Providing assistance with indoor and outdoor plant/flower upkeep Friendly Visiting: Visiting and spending time with Residents, walks, reading, playing cards, etc. Spiritual Care: Providing encouragement and portering support to church services and weekly hymn sing. Scott Manor House is a registered provincial and municipal heritage property, owned by the Halifax Regional Municipality and managed by the Fort Sackville Foundation, a Bedford local-history group and registered charity. It provides facilities and resources for research about the local area and its inhabitants, as well as a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of life. In the summer it operates as a museum and community hub, featuring a Tea Room for your further relaxation and enjoyment.
At CNIB Guide Dogs, we raise, train and match dogs with Canadians who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision. We also raise our voices to ensure people with sight loss have opportunities to live, work and play without barriers.
An SATB community choir of 50+ members.  We sing a repertoire of folk, pop, gospel, classical to Broadway.  Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm at Hillside United Church on 12 Flamingo Drive, Halifax, usually from September to mid-May.  The choir usually performs 3 to 4 concerts per year.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to curing blood cancers and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. Through Canadian-led research, education, advocacy, and free support services, LLSC helps people navigate every step of their blood cancer experience while driving progress in treatments and care. Light The Night is LLSC’s signature fundraising event, bringing communities together each fall in cities across Canada. Participants carry illuminated lanterns—red for supporters, white for survivors, and gold in memory of loved ones—as they walk in solidarity to honour, celebrate, and remember those impacted by blood cancers. Funds raised through Light The Night fuel groundbreaking research and vital support programs. The event not only shines a light on the progress made over the past two decades, but also inspires hope and connection, reminding everyone that no one walks alone in the blood cancer community.

Through innovative programs and partnerships, we strive to provide opportunities for youth to engage with music, build creative skills, and develop lifelong confidence. Our work brings together a community of educators, students, and supporters to cultivate a love of music and creativity in the heart of our local and global communities.
The Exhibit Engagement Volunteer interacts in a positive manner with visitors to the Army Museum while monitoring the museum and its exhibits. The Volunteer is expected to greet visitors inside the museum with a brief explanation of the layout of the museum. They are responsible for: - enhancing visitor experience - assisting visitors with any questions - assisting with interactive exhibits within the museum - for maintain a safe and inviting environment for visitors - daily upkeep of exhibit spaces to ensure high quality experience for visitors The Exhibit Engagement Volunteer provides information about the exhibits and Nova Scotia’s participation in army mission throughout the 20 th and 21 st centuries.
Wellness Wags Assistance Dogs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through expertly trained service dogs. Our mission is to provide life-changing assistance dogs free of charge to Nova Scotians, empowering independence, safety, and emotional well-being. We offer: - autism service dogs for children - mobility service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities - facility dogs that support vulnerable communities in hospitals, courts, and other public service settings Through our programs, we strive to create inclusive communities, educate the public about the role of service dogs, and foster meaningful connections between people and dogs that enrich lives for both. Wellness Wags relies on the dedication of volunteers and the support of our community to raise, train, and place these remarkable dogs.
The Eastern Passage Food Security Society is a community-driven non-profit dedicated to ensuring equitable access to nutritious food. We focus on building sustainable, intergenerational connections through initiatives like our community fridge, mobile food security unit, and accessible gardening projects. By bringing together youth and seniors—particularly through the creation of four-season growing spaces—we aim to strengthen local food systems and foster a supportive, inclusive community for all residents.
Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is the only national, volunteer-based charity focused on finding the cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of children and adults affected by these diseases. We are one of the top two health charity funders of Crohn’s and colitis research in the world, investing over $150 million in research since 1974, leading to important breakthroughs in genetics, gut microbes, inflammation and cell repair as well as laying the groundwork for new and better treatments. We are transforming the lives of people affected by Crohn’s and colitis (the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease) through research, patient programs, advocacy, and awareness. We have a local Chapter in Halifax that plans events, provides support and works on awareness initiatives.
