Osteoporosis Canada is the only national organization serving people who have, or are at risk for, osteoporosis. The organization works to educate, empower and support individuals and communities in the risk-reduction and treatment of osteoporosis. With your help, we teach Canadians how to improve their bone health so osteoporosis can never take hold. We support those already diagnosed, and work to improve their quality of life. And we pursue research and treatment breakthroughs that keep more people healthy. Together, we will help make Canadians unbreakable.
Scleroderma is a rare auto-immune disease that may cause hardening and tightening of the skin as well as damage to internal organs. Our organization seeks to increase awareness of the disease as well as to support those living with scleroderma in our region.
VON is a not for profit organization delivering both home care and community support services. It's more than 5000 employees and 9000 volunteers deliver health care and health promotion services in communities and homes, contributing to better health and improved quality of life for Canadians
Our Mission: We exist to empower persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and those at risk through health promotion and mutual support, and to reduce the spread of HIV in Nova Scotia.
Our Vision: The AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia is a PHA-centered, community leader committed to the creation of a positive, safe and caring environment. As the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia envisions and fights for a cure, we strive to promote holistic quality of life. ACNS will respond to the changes and challenges by ensuring qualified, compassionate human resources, funding, education and commitment to health promotion.
The MS Society provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. We have a membership of 17,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services.
Ocean View is a charitable organization that has been operating since the early 1960’s. We are pleased to be a trusted provider of a variety of services, predominately for seniors and others folks that need a little extra help in day to day living. Ocean View operates the very first nursing home in Nova Scotia to be granted “Accreditation” by Accreditation Canada in 1974, a standard of excellence that we still celebrate and achieve to this day. Between in care living and community supports, we proudly serve over 500 individuals each year through our 320+ staff and 100+ volunteers. Our vision is to be the “community of choice” for Nova Scotians needing support in a place they call home.
The QEII Foundation raises funds for the benefit of the QEII Health Sciences Centre to support patient care, research and education.
Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC) is Canada’s leading private funder of vision research.
We offer hope to Canadians by identifying the best, most promising research that is driving treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases, and by raising and stewarding funds to support this essential, sight-saving research.
Over our 45-year history, we have invested over $40 million to support vision research and education across Canada: that’s over 200 research grants that have led to over 600 new discoveries in areas such as:
- stem cell research
- neuroprotective therapies
- technological developments
- pharmaceuticals
- gene therapies
We are also committed to developing vision research funding partnerships in Canada and internationally. Through these partnerships, we have helped to unlock more than $10 million to drive research forward.
All of the research and educational initiatives we fund supports our goals of understanding why vision loss occurs, how it can be slowed or stopped, and how sight can be restored.
