The Canadian Mental Health Association, Halifax-Dartmouth Branch works at the community level and facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health, community integration and resilience. CMHA Halifax-Dartmouth supports the recovery of people living with mental illness through our social support programs and initiatives.

Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation that gathers once a month to celebrate life. We are currently meeting on the 4th Sunday of the month at the Halifax Central Public Library. Our motto is: Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More. The Assemblies consist of speakers from the community and singing popular songs together with coffee and cookies afterward.
Halifax Regional CAP Association (HRCAP) is a non-profit organization comprised of staff, board members, volunteers, and student interns who collectively unify and provide a network of local CAP (Community Access Program) sites across Halifax Regional Municipality. The mandate of HRCAP is to provide all members of the community with access and exposure to technology, and to deliver innovative and exciting programs that help bridge the “digital divide.” By connecting people to technology, training and opportunities which open doors for growth and development, HRCAP advances economic, social and cultural priorities through technology and innovation, helping to build strong, sharing, cooperative, and competitive communities.
The Resource Opportunities Centre is a non-profit, community development organization serving the communities along Route 333, from Goodwood to Dover. In 2010 the ROC was named the volunteer management organization of the new Prospect Road Community Centre located at 2141 Prospect Road in Hatchet Lake. The Centre is operated via lease agreement with the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The Resilience Research Centre studies resilience from all aspects.
"In the context of exposure to significant adversity, resilience is both the capacity of individuals to navigate their way to the psychological, social, cultural, and physical resources that sustain their well-being, and their capacity individually and collectively to negotiate for these resources to be provided in culturally meaningful ways." (Ungar, 2008 and Ungar, 2011)
Frag For Charity is an initiative of volunteers that raises funds and awareness for cancer charities by hosting local and online video game tournaments, auctions and entertainment events. It was founded in 2006 after a gamer lost his father to lung cancer. Over the last 9 years, Frag For Charity has raised over $90 000 in more than 20 events for health-related charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
The Mobile Food Market is a 21-week pilot project that sells fresh and affordable fruit and vegetables in communities across the Halifax region. Every Saturday, a Halifax Transit bus is transformed into a mobile fresh produce market. The Mobile Food Market stops in 5 communities; North and East Preston one week and Spryfield, Fairview and North End Halifax following week.

The Youth Project is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing support and services to youth, 25 and under, around issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. We have a provincial mandate so although we are located in HRM, we travel around the province to meet with youth in other communities. We provide a variety of programs and services including support groups, referrals, supportive counselling, a resource library, educational workshops, social activities.
