Hello! We voluntarily manage the beautiful Musquodoboit Trailways in Musquodoboit Harbour, and we enjoy seeing the happy puppies on the trail. Unfortunately, not everyone picks up their doggy-doo bags. Are there any keen volunteers out there who enjoy walking their pooch, and picking up a few extra bags full of doggy-doo?
The Disaster Animal Response Team of Nova Scotia, founded in 2008, is a registered charity, that sets up and runs emergency shelters for pets in times of disaster. We are 100 % volunteer based, and welcome new members. Our organization also promotes emergency preparedness for pets and the importance of being prepared in case a disaster strikes in your area. Our Life Meters for Pets is part of a public education tool to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving pets in hot cars. Bide Awhile Animal Shelter provides a safe place for homeless and abandoned animals until they find their forever homes.

The Santa Paws Fundraiser is an annual fundraiser of the NS SPCA organized and implemented by volunteers of the NS SPCA.
The NS SPCA is a not for profit organization that rescues animals from dangerous and deplorable conditions across the province and provide them second chances; provides a safe haven for animals with nowhere else to go before finding their forever homes: food, bed, exercise, love, affection; Vets every animal that comes through the door including: spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping and overall health check; and works one-on-one with every animal to rebuild their trust in humans and ensure they are well prepared for the next stage of their life.
The Canadian Wildlife Federation’s mission is to conserve and inspire the conservation of Canada’s wildlife and habitats for the use and enjoyment of all. The Canadian Wildlife Federation conducts its activities through a cooperative approach – working with people, corporations, non-government organizations, and governments to inspire collaboration in achieving wildlife conservation. We will use the best available science-based information to develop our policies, programs and communications. CWF prides itself in being accountable and transparent in fulfilling our mission.
The Back to the Sea Society is a charity dedicated to sparking curiosity for local marine life off the coast of Nova Scotia (Mi'kma'ki), and to fostering a desire to protect our oceans. Here at Back to the Sea, we operate the Touch Tank Hut, a community aquarium on the Dartmouth waterfront, along with other occasional events to promote aquatic life and its conservation.
To get to know our oceans and the life within it, we need to have the opportunity to see it at eye level, ask questions, get curious, be compelled to care, and inspired to make sustainable choices. We do this at the Touch Tank Hut by displaying only smaller, local, shallow-dwelling animals, with a focus on hands-on learning. We follow a catch-and-release philosophy, where all animals collected are released back into the ocean in the fall.
ElderDog Canada is a national, registered charitable organization dedicated to ageing people, ageing dogs, and the important connection they enjoy. Our goals are to:
• Assist and support older adults in the care and well-being of their canine companions;
• Promote the welfare of older dogs whose lives have been disrupted due to illness, relocation or death of a human companion;
• Educate about the human-animal bond in general and the significant role of companion animals in the health and well-being of seniors;
• Support and conduct research into the human-animal bond with a focus on seniors and canine companionship.
ISCBC is a dynamic action-oriented organization, helping concerned stakeholders work together to stop the spread of invasive species in BC. Earth Rangers is an environmental non-profit that empowers youth to take action for the environment. Our ER Teens program offers an opportunity for young Canadians aged 13-18 to take initiative for environmental causes they care about, such as wildlife conservation, climate change, sustainability, and more. By working remotely with staff, teens volunteer their time to complete an eco-action project of their choice; at home, at school, in their community, or online. Our flexible program ensures that teens can work at their own pace, while having the support and resources they need to make a positive impact.
Surfrider Foundation Canada's mission is the protection and enjoyment of the ocean, beaches and waves, for all people. Surfrider focuses on clean water, plastic reduction, coasts and climate, ocean protection, and beach access.
