The Arthritis Society began 70 years ago with one very clear goal; to alleviate the suffering of people crippled by arthritis. Founded in 1948 by Dr. Wallace Graham and his medical peers from across the country, it was Mary Pack, a fiercely driven community advocate who worked tirelessly to put peoples’ needs truly into the spotlight. Today, that same passion exists in communities across Canada.
The Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU) supports research to improve health across the Maritime Provinces. The MSSU focuses on research priorities of provincial governments and health authorities in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Research teams also draw on MSSU as a resource to support studies that improve health care and inform health policy.
Dartmouth Handcrafters Guild was formed as a non-profit group by six craftspeople in 1974, and has grown through the years to over 170 craftspeople. It is the first major craft show of the season. The Guild takes great pride each year in donating their profit to local charities, selected by members. Solutions Learning Centre, the operating name for the Dartmouth Work Activity Society, has been helping people succeed since 1980. Our work activity programs offer the training that allows participants to develop job specific skills. Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is home to our annual Multifest celebration, an energetic festival of culture and diversity. The Festival includes representation from Nova Scotia’s many cultures in the form of music, art, displays and lots of delicacies native to each culture.
As a society we want to support diversity in communities throughout the province. We offer our experience and support to communities looking to establish a multicultural festival in their city or town.

Welcome to CIAD—Canadian Intervention and Assistance Dogs Society. In Gaelic, CIAD means “primary” or “first”. We felt that this name truly reflects our training school on a number of levels….first; we are a new school in Nova Scotia offering intervention and assistance dog training. Secondly, we are focusing on providing assistance (service) dogs to first responders who have sustained post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI) that are either cumulative (long-term over their career) or incidental (a specific event).
We are an incorporated not-for-profit society and operate following the Societies Act of Nova Scotia.

Efficiency Nova Scotia Corporation was established in 2010 to manage electricity Demand Side Management or DSM initiatives within Nova Scotia. These initiatives were funded by a DSM charge on electricity bills. In 2014, legislative changes required DSM initiatives to be provided by a franchise holder.
The franchise holder, now known as EfficiencyOne, has the exclusive right to supply NS Power with reasonably available, cost-effective efficiency and conservation activities for a ten-year term.
The Efficiency Nova Scotia franchise is a public utility regulated by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, which approves agreements between NS Power and EfficiencyOne on the level of DSM activity. The cost of these activities is included in electricity rates.

The Nova Scotia SPCA is an animal welfare organization committed to the protection of animals from cruelty. The Nova Scotia SPCA supports and promotes protection for all animals from distress, humane education and operates no kill shelters where euthanasia is only considered for mercy or aggression. The NS SPCA operates a net work of six animal shelters across the Province, education services, animal protection programs, trap neuter and release programs and spay/neuter services for low income families. The SPCA relies on community support to fund its programs.
The mission of AFACS is to encourage and foster successful exposure and community awareness of African arts and culture in Nova Scotia. AFACS is a cultural society that strives to provide enabling environment that will encourage the promotion of African arts and culture for all people of African descent residing in Nova Scotia.
We, at Atlantic Kite Festivals believe in bringing communities together by celebrating festivals. Our journey started in year 2013 where few of the friends started celebrating various events based on major festivals in South East Asia. By looking at participation from local communities we kept adding more and more events in our catalogue.
One Day, Few kids came to our event, Halifax Colour Festival with kites and that’s where idea came from to start Kite Festivals in Atlantic Region. The plan was long due and we did our first ever Kite Festival at Citadel Hill in 2017. And in the same year we did another kite festival at Rissers Beach with Sand castle competition. After these two successful events and reviews from participants, we decided to start doing more festivals like this in Atlantic Canada.
In 2019, we have planned four Kite Festivals in Nova Scotia in partnership with various municipalities and sand castle competitions. And also we will be doing our own Kite Festival at Citadel Hill which we have made an annual event which will occur in Every Second week of July.
We, at Atlantic Kite Festival love to see smiles on kids faces when they see these huge kites in the air. It’s even fun to fly.
