Cystic Fibrosis Canada is a national charitable not-for-profit corporation established in 1960, and is one of the world’s top three charitable organizations committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. As an internationally recognized leader in funding innovation and clinical care, we invest more in life-saving CF research and care than any other non-governmental agency in Canada. Our mission is to help people with cystic fibrosis. We fund research towards the goal of a cure or control for cystic fibrosis, support high quality CF care, promote public awareness of cystic fibrosis, and raise and allocate funds for these purposes.

PACO is Dartmouth's volunteer-run, wood-fired community oven located in Leighton Dillman Park on the Dartmouth Common.

Our club falls under the Kin Canada umbrella. We are a not for profit organization (you may have heard of our local Kinsmen Clubs) who raises funds through projects and fundraisers and inturn gives it back to the community through donations request. We have been a major supporter of Multiple Sclerosis, Cystic Fibrosis, the IWK amongst many, many more. We have been doing this nationally since 1920. Our club has been in existence since 1963 and just celebrated our 60th anniversary. Our motto is "Serving the Community's Greatest Need".

The Association of Kinsmen Clubs is a uniquely Canadian creation. Its founder, Hal Rogers [1899-1994], was a distinguished veteran of World War I and successful Ontario businessman. He looked beyond the confines of his entrepreneurial office walls in 1920 to establish a new service club whereby other members of his town could give back to the citizens less fortunate than themselves. That service took on international participation with his steerage of the Kinsmen clubs to support Britain during the 1939-45 War, and reconstruction for Britain in the aftermath of the conflict. For his positive efforts Hal Rogers was awarded the honour of Officer of the British Empire [1948], and received further recognition for his contributions to Canada with membership in the Order of Canada [1980]. His was an imposing model to follow. Kinsmen throughout Canada well understood that it was not the size of an endeavour which mattered. The heart of the Kinsmen movement is fellowship and the will to act in service for others. The Kinsmen Club of Sackville [as it was renamed in 1967] continues to realize the value of the founding ideals of Hal Rogers. Service can be anything from picking up litter at the park next to the Kin Centre to fund raising for Cystic Fibrosis. No one member engages in work for self-promotion. Rather the Club seeks publicity to bring their efforts to the notice of other prospective members to ensure the continuity of service to the community.

Our mission at St. John Ambulance is to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service. Some of our community service programs include: Therapy Dog, Volunteer Medical Responders, LifeSmart, and our Car Seat program. In addition to Standard and Emergency First Aid we offer a number of specialized courses including: Defensive Driving, Pet First Aid, Babysitting, Home Alone, Marine First Aid, Emergency Child Care, Wilderness First Aid, and more.

The Marguerite Centre is a long-term, residential facility for women healing from addiction. We foster a healthier society by supporting women recovering from addiction through a long-term residential program focusing on the healing of mind, body and spirit.

The Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights presented by Eastlink is taking place on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 6:00pm in downtown Halifax! This year's parade will be led by the second annual Red Nose Run in support of the QEII Foundation, a fun run that follows the same route as the parade and begins at 5:45pm. We will need volunteers on the route for the run as well. For 20 years we have relied on the help of our volunteers to help make the Holiday Parade of Lights a success. Please join us again on November 19th to help kick off the holiday season! The Sunshine Foundation of Canada is a national charitable organization that makes dreams come true for children living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses. Our vision is that every Sunshine child lives their dream.

The Halifax Tool Library is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that loans tools to the community as a proud member of the sharing economy in Halifax. Our key mission is to get underused tools into the hands of people who need them. In order to make this happen we need energetic, engaged volunteers to do a variety of tasks from membership (customer) service to administration to library organization to tool maintenance and repair. We love what we do and the current corps of volunteers and our membership are DIY and sharing economy enthusiasts. The executive are constantly striving to make the volunteer experience at the HTL a fun and valuable way to share time and be social while doing an amazing thing for our community.

The Hooked Rug Museum of North America collects, exhibits and preserves the heritage of hand-hooked rugs and artifacts used in the making of fibre art. It researches the history of this art, presents it in an accurate manner and also encourages future development of the art.  We are run solely by volunteers with one summer student (open seasonally May - October).

Nova Village NS (NVNS) is a community based non-profit organization est. in 1986. The family hub provides a variety of programs and services to families with youth, ages  birth- 19.
