The Halifax Busker Festival is the oldest and largest of its kind in Canada. The Festival Team is excited to offer electrifying international performers from Canada, United Stages, England, Ireland and Australia! Come and watch them perform a wide varity of street theatre, acrobatics, music, visual arts, fire displays and comedy.

The Bella Rose Arts Centre is a performing arts venue located inside of Halifax West High School. The goal of the Bell Rose Arts Centre is to bring school and community to an appreciation and understanding of diverse cultures through an inclusive approach to music and fine arts programming. Currently, the theatre is seeking volunteers to assist with fundraisers and community based events. Volunteers will be trained on proper theatre etiquette, the theatre's emergency procedures and more. Latispanica mission is the promotion of the Hispanic Latin culture, the celebration of diversity and integration in Nova Scotia. Latispanica is a non-profit organization based register in 2012. It is a cultural association organized by a group of dedicated volunteers members who share the mission and vision of Latispanica.

With locations in downtown Halifax and Yarmouth, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is the largest art museum in Atlantic Canada. Since 1908, the Gallery has been a gateway for the visual arts in Atlantic Canada by engaging people with art. It is committed to this mission as an agency of the Province of Nova Scotia and one of the premier arts institutions in Canada. The Gallery is also responsible for acquiring, preserving and exhibiting works of art, and for providing education in the visual arts. The Gallery’s Permanent Collection currently holds over 17,000 works.

The Dartmouth Makers are a non-profit, volunteer driven society of artists and craftspeople with an aim to foster a vibrant Dartmouth arts community. Their vision is to create affordable craft shows where artists, crafters and makers alike can market and sell their work.

The Halifax Tea Festival brings together like-minded people to raise awareness around locally owned and operated teashops, cafes, local food establishments, organic agriculture, artisans, etc. This festival supports the Buy Local movement by providing an accessible way to introduce products and services to the community in a unique and fun manner. Last year for our First Annual event we welcomed hundreds of tea enthusiasts from HRM and beyond. The Festival taps into the history and the culture of tea. It’s an opportunity to connect deeper with each other and our health. The event is family friendly, safe, interactive, and full of learning opportunities.The Halifax Tea Festival donates a portion of admission fees to a non-profit every year. The objectives of the Association are to promote the study of our Nova Scotian genealogical heritage for our members and the general public by: - providing educational opportunities - collecting and preserving genealogical material - encouraging the study of Nova Scotia genealogy and family history - furthering ethical practices and promoting scientific and effective techniques of genealogical research - publishing and distributing genealogical materials - acquiring real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable to meet these objectives.

Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia, founded in 1959, is a non-profit registered charity whose goal is to conserve buildings and sites of historic significance, and to promote this important cultural component of Nova Scotia’s identity. HTNS gives small grants, publishes, hosts lectures and other educational events, researches buildings and sites.

The Sackville Community Development Association (SCDA) is a group of volunteers whose objective is to make Sackville a better place to live. In order to achieve this goal, a group came together in 1997 and recommended, among other things, to create a community celebration for Canada Day to try and boost community spirit and pride. Patriot Days was born. This multi-day celebration has now grown to include a skateboard jam, a teddy bear picnic, baseball tournaments, fireworks and a Canada Day parade, which has attracted more participants and spectators every year. Many we have also hosted Citizenship courts, where new Canadians are sworn in and welcomed to Canada. The Memorial Rose Hedge is another ongoing SCDA project designed to beautify the entrance to Sackville. We maintain a Memorial Rosebush Registry in which we record names of citizens who have been honoured by the donation of a rosebush in their name. This hedge has now completely replaced a rusty chain link fence and adds to the beauty of Sackville Heritage Park. As well the SCDA is happy to lend its support to the Sackville Town Crier, Love Sackville, and the annual Tree-lighting ceremony at Acadia Hall. Finally, we are pleased to work hand-in-hand with other community service groups and clubs to achieve our common goal of making Sackville a hometown to be proud of. The main source of SCDA funding comes from membership fees collected annually. The association operates under a Board of Directors, however, as with many organizations, we rely heavily on volunteers to support and achieve our goals. Our Objectives The SCDA is an incorporated body whose goal is to make Sackville, Nova Scotia, a better place to live through the following objectives: Creating a more positive identity for the Community through a series of high profile, high quality festivities and events that bring credit to Sackville and recognize the spirit of its residents; Promoting the social and economic development of the community and fulfilling the needs and aspirations of its residents; Providing a forum for debate and a vehicle for the residents of Sackville to lobby and influence activities in the community; and Addressing any other matters as decided from time to time. Our Structure SCDA’s objectives are fulfilled by committees of volunteers who operate under the guidance of a Board of Directors. The Board is be comprised of both elected and appointed members with representation from; Interested community members; Youth and seniors groups; Residential groups; The political arena; and Community organizations with mutual interests. Accomplishments The SCDA, operating in partnership with other local organizations, have accomplished many things in Sackville: Retention of the Sackville Visitor Information Centre in the community Establishment of the Sackville Heritage Park Advisory Committee and development of Heritage Park Expansion of the Sackville Sports Stadium and establishment of the Curling Rink Establishment of the Northwood Senior Day Care Cross-roads Program. Techsploration, a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1998 because we believed if you want to make a change in the number of women working in these fields, you have to reach the young women. Techsploration directly addresses this. Techsploration provides young women from grades nine through twelve with opportunities to explore science, trades and technology occupations, while creating awareness about the critical role of work in their lives. It also helps them understand the significance of high school math and science for their future careers.

The Conseil de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse (CDÉNÉ) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the economic advancement of the Acadian and Francophone community in Nova Scotia. Founded in 1999, it is the only provincial Francophone economic development organization in Nova Scotia. The CDÉNÉ delivers solutions to businesses, not-for-profit organizations, job seekers, economic immigrants and communities to ensure their economic success. The CDÉNÉ offers the following services to the Acadian and francophone community : employment assistance, community economic development, entrepreneurship, youth entrepreneurship, economic immigration and training. Please note that not all services are available in all regions of the province.

We promote competence and excellence in the leadership of volunteers by fostering collaboration and networking, promoting professional development and certification, and offering mentorship and knowledge exchange.
