Dense Breasts Canada (DBC) is a non-profit organization, founded in 2016. DBC is made up of breast cancer survivors, dedicated individuals and healthcare professionals committed to: raising awareness about the risks associated with dense breasts and advocating for breast density notification and optimal breast cancer screening.

People with diabetes face many issues that have serious and long-term effects on their physical, emotional and financial quality of life. Diabetes Canada works to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while we work to find a cure. It encourages a healthy lifestyle as the best method of prevention, and represents the interests of those with diabetes to government, business, and the public.

We are a research lab operating out of the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the IWK Health Centre. Our work explores the use of a mindfulness-based group intervention for 13-18 year old teens with unexplained chronic pain.

Eating Disorders NS is a local organization dedicated to supporting those impacted by eating disorders. We believe that no-one should have to face an eating disorder alone. We are here to help. We work to raise awareness and understanding around eating disorders, and to support those impacted. We provide peer support groups, one-on-one mentoring and family peer support groups

We advocate for all persons impacted by epilepsy.  We provide educational sessions in schools and to employers, individual assistance, and courses.  We also provide scholarships to our members.  And we hold an amazing Gala every year.  We are a small group and we appreciate those who lend a hand.

Excalibur ADHD Association offers programs to people with ADHD in Nova Scotia.  We have several support groups, some accessible through Skype.  We offer Parent Menagement Training, Saturday and Summer Camps for children 6-12 years old, and our Working Memory Program.  Members of our Association have access to our book and on-line libraries.  Some programs cost less to members.

Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC) is Canada’s leading private funder of vision research. We offer hope to Canadians by identifying the best, most promising research that is driving treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases, and by raising and stewarding funds to support this essential, sight-saving research. Over our 45-year history, we have invested over $40 million to support vision research and education across Canada: that’s over 200 research grants that have led to over 600 new discoveries in areas such as: - stem cell research - neuroprotective therapies - technological developments - pharmaceuticals - gene therapies We are also committed to developing vision research funding partnerships in Canada and internationally. Through these partnerships, we have helped to unlock more than $10 million to drive research forward. All of the research and educational initiatives we fund supports our goals of understanding why vision loss occurs, how it can be slowed or stopped, and how sight can be restored.

The Halifax Sexual Health Centre provides health services and resources that are sex positive, pro-choice, inclusive, and non-judgemental. 

We require a volunteer in food preparation each Tuesday at 1:00 to 3:00

Heat and Stroke is an organization that has focused on fighting heart disease and stroke for over 60 years. Our mission includes Prevention- Through policy change to reduce sugar intake in youth and to promote physical activity while reducing sedentary behaviour. Saving Lives- By teaching CPR and and advocating and supplying funding for more AED's in public areas Promote Recovery- By providing various rehabilitation tools to survivors The Heart and Stroke Foundation also recognizes that Women's and Indigenous heart health are under researched and we are part of the paradigm change to promote research in theses populations.
