The Halifax Tool Library is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that loans tools to the community as a proud member of the sharing economy in Halifax. Our key mission is to get underused tools into the hands of people who need them. In order to make this happen we need energetic, engaged volunteers to do a variety of tasks from membership (customer) service to administration to library organization to tool maintenance and repair. We love what we do and the current corps of volunteers and our membership are DIY and sharing economy enthusiasts. The executive are constantly striving to make the volunteer experience at the HTL a fun and valuable way to share time and be social while doing an amazing thing for our community.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to curing blood cancers and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. Through Canadian-led research, education, advocacy, and free support services, LLSC helps people navigate every step of their blood cancer experience while driving progress in treatments and care.
Light The Night is LLSC’s signature fundraising event, bringing communities together each fall in cities across Canada. Participants carry illuminated lanterns—red for supporters, white for survivors, and gold in memory of loved ones—as they walk in solidarity to honour, celebrate, and remember those impacted by blood cancers.
Funds raised through Light The Night fuel groundbreaking research and vital support programs. The event not only shines a light on the progress made over the past two decades, but also inspires hope and connection, reminding everyone that no one walks alone in the blood cancer community.
The Marguerite Centre is a long-term, residential facility for women healing from addiction. We foster a healthier society by supporting women recovering from addiction through a long-term residential program focusing on the healing of mind, body and spirit.
The Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture brings cultures together through film, music and entertainment. Join us in-person or online on September 19, 2020.
Nova Multifest Society is a local, non-profit organization created to promote cultural organizations throughout the province and bring communities together by supporting diversity, inclusion, tolerance and positivity.

Wellness Wags Assistance Dogs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through expertly trained service dogs. Our mission is to provide life-changing assistance dogs free of charge to Nova Scotians, empowering independence, safety, and emotional well-being.
We offer:
- autism service dogs for children
- mobility service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities
- facility dogs that support vulnerable communities in hospitals, courts, and other public service settings
Through our programs, we strive to create inclusive communities, educate the public about the role of service dogs, and foster meaningful connections between people and dogs that enrich lives for both.
Wellness Wags relies on the dedication of volunteers and the support of our community to raise, train, and place these remarkable dogs.
The Westend Community Food Bank is a volunteer operated food bank. We are located on 3495 McAlpine Street, in the neighbourhood between the Fairview Cemetery and the West End Mall in Halifax. We are open on Thursday mornings from 8:30 until noon and have approximately 125 clients who we distribute food to each week.
