Maritime Muslim Academy (MMA) is an independent educational institution based on Islamic principles, whose mission is to educate students intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially in a trusting and caring Islamic environment. The Academy offers standard educational programs like any other school in Canada and also offers Quran and Arabic as well as the basic teaching in Islamic beliefs, principles, and values. The Academy was founded in 1984 to serve the Muslim community in the Halifax/Dartmouth area. It is one of the earliest Islamic schools established in Canada and is the only Islamic school in Atlantic Canada. MMA offers private educational services to students from September to June, a total of 195 teaching days/year, and provides full-time teaching at all stages of education: Preschool, Elementary, Junior High and Senior High. English is the main language of instruction, however, Arabic and French are taught as second languages.

The Start2Finish Running & Reading Club is an innovative after-school program that effectively addresses the need for enhanced physical activity, literacy, and mentorship. The program targets elementary school aged children, grades 1-6, operating directly within schools once per week for 2 hours, from October to May.
