Guess Who, Halifax? Waterfront Event Live Streamer/Promoter

Halifax MS Walk- Event Day Volunteer

Description: The 2023 Halifax MS Walk is taking place Sunday May 28th 3:00pm at Acadia Park in Lower Sackville! The MS Walk is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by Multiple Sclerosis as well as those who want to support our vision of creating a world free of MS. Tens of thousands of Canadians come together in their communities every May to participate, fundraise and volunteer in MS Walk to help find the cause and cure for this disease. These events would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers given their time. There are various areas where volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience while they are walking to raise critical funds to support those effected by MS. Summer Camp Volunteer

Description: March of Dimes Canada is gearing up for our Summer Conductive Education camp!   We are looking for 3-5 volunteers per week to help us out.   Conductive Education® (CE) is a program that combines physical rehabilitation and education to help children and adults with neurological motor disorders. Conductive Education works on the brain to change the body. Participants are taught skills and techniques to help them overcome the challenges of their disability – they will learn how to apply these strategies to their everyday life, becoming more independent.   Volunteers will work closely with our trained instructors to help provide fun camp activities and gain experience for future work placements.     Here are the weeks:   Week 1: July 10th – 13th  from Monday – Thursday8:30 am – 2pm (Children)   Week 2: July 17th – July 20th  from Monday – Thursday8:30 am – 2pm (Children)   Week 3: July 24th – 27th from Monday – Thursday8:30 am – 2pm (Children)   Week 4: July 31st – August 3rd  from Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 2pm (Teen)   Week 5: August 8th – 10th from Tuesday – Thursday 9:30am -  12:30pm (Parent & Child)   Week 6: August 14th – 17th from Tuesday – Thursday 9:30am – 12:30pm (Parent & Child)   If interested, we ask that you commit to a full week if possible in order to keep it consistent for our campers 😊

Description: What a great way to get to know the theatre, our volunteers and our patrons! You can volunteer for one night or 10 nights, that's entirely up to you. You are always paired up with another bar volunteer, as well as a Front of House Manager. You get to have fun, chat with our guests and support the arts in Halifax! Some of the things you may find yourself doing: Arrive 75 minutes before show time (8 PM) to get the lobby ready for our patrons Read the Bar Staff Checklist at the bar to remind you of your duties Check bar stock and refill from stock room if necessary Count float Serve patrons according to Liquor License rules (provided by TAG) Stay for one round at the end of the show Collect tickets – check date and time Restock bar during at end of performance Count float and tidy up Attend Closing Party with gusto!

Empathy Squad *VIRTUAL* Audio Storytelling and Podcasting Training (Winter 2024)

Description: Gather Oral Histories to Foster Empathy and Build your Podcasting Skills The Empathy Squad is a hands-on, experiential-service-learning opportunity for diverse youth from across Canada aimed at creating meaningful connections and increasing understanding of one another through public engagement, facilitated conversations, active listening and presentation, aimed at capturing and preserving our country's collective community memory for generations to come. The Empathy Squad program is made possible by the Canada Service Corps.   As a participant, you will:  ✅ Acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed to produce high-quality audio stories: interviewing and recording techniques, audio-editing, narrative shaping, and sound design; ✅ Volunteer in service of your community, learn about what’s important to them through active listening and help foster empathy for their lived experiences; ✅ Experience hands-on learning alongside fellow future leaders and from industry professionals across the country. Some of our program alumni have incorporated interviewing and audio storytelling components into either their current profession or their postgraduate studies, as well as acquired jobs in related media/artistic fields.   Program Expectations: Have access to strong internet connection and a laptop available on which you can download and install: Slack, Descript, Google Chrome, Zoom; Attend scheduled Zoom sessions that consist of live demonstrations, instructional videos and feedback sharing from facilitators, Guest Artists and peers; Apply learnings by conducting interviews, using audio recording equipment, and completing assignments using audio-editing software, Descript; Engage with facilitators and peers using program communication platforms; Commit 10-12 hours a week, including scheduled Zoom sessions and work in your own time.   Application Process and Timeline:  Interested volunteer are asked to fill out an application form here: https://www.fixtpoint.com/empathysquad-apply NOTE: Applications for Cohorts 15 & 16 are now closed. Volunteer at the 2023 TD Halifax Jazz Festival
