Description: WHAT DO WE DO? ClimateScience aims to empower people to make real long-term solutions to climate change actionable through climate education. We hope our way of covering solutions makes people excited to contribute to clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and other global-scale sustainability issues – beyond reusing their plastic bags. We believe education is the most powerful tool in the fight against climate change. POSITION Help fight against climate change by joining our team at ClimateScience! As a Community Coordinator, you would help recruit people to be a part of our team, actively participate in meetings and events, form partnerships with schools and organizations, and learn more about climate change through our website. You have the chance to gain new experiences and connections, opportunities to earn leadership positions, build your resume, and acquire skills, all while being part of a fun community! Community Coordinators must be interested in learning more about climate change and passionate about bringing climate education into their own communities, and a flexible schedule would be a bonus. INFORMATION Our organization is generally oriented towards youth education. Open to anyone between 14-25 years. Minimum 3-5 hours per week (more for leadership positions!). Must be willing to commit for a minimum of 6 months. Entirely remote. Should be eager to learn, passionate about climate change, sense of responsibility and accountability, networking and communication skills are a plus! RESPONSIBILITIES Recruit people to join ClimateScience Canada. Attend weekly meetings with other members of the team. Will work within their community to create and implement long-term projects that help address climate change on a local level. Can include: research, outreach, document writing, skill-building. Promote ClimateScience content on social media. Learn about climate change and participate in climate education events. Plan, organize, and manage online and in-person events. Annapolis Valley- MS Bike Event Day Volunteer

Description: After 2 years we are excited that we are back in the bike seat and on the road again! The Annapolis Valley MS Bike will see cyclists take to the road on Saturday August 6th and Sunday August 7th and enjoy a fully supported ride through Annapolis Valley before returning to Acadia University for an overnight stay and evening celebrations. Cyclists will then take to the road again, Sunday where they will be greeted at the finish line with a BBQ! In preparation for this exciting and memorable event we are looking for individuals who would like to help us make this event one for the memory book! We have a number of event day volunteer opportunities below are just a few of the many fun roles we have available for the day! Volunteers are able to support 1 or both days. We do this through research leading to better treatments and the end of Parkinson’s, advocacy bringing the voices of Parkinson’s to the forefront and support that helps people live well with Parkinson’s through education and services. A national registered charity, Parkinson Canada operates through the generosity of donors and is an accredited organization under the Imagine Canada Standards Program. The Opportunity SuperWalk Coordinators play a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson’s. They champion and lead the coordination of SuperWalk in communities, from start to finish, with support from Parkinson Canada. They support the organizing committee and ensure a positive experience for event participants. You will solicit sponsors in conjunction with the Sponsorship Coordinator and ensure the funds collected the day of the event are properly recorded and deposited. You will ensure all activities and actions are in alignment with the Parkinson Canada SuperWalk program and Parkinson Canada Policies. Your Contribution  As a SuperWalk Coordinator, your people-skills, enthusiasm, and talent for organizing make you an excellent community facilitator. You enjoy guiding and mentoring other volunteers and helping them excel at their tasks. As someone who loves event logistics, you would excel at the following key tasks: Selecting and securing a site for SuperWalk Preparing a budget for the local event Sourcing local sponsorships Recruiting and providing leadership for the organizing committee Managing volunteers alongside the Volunteer Coordinator Organizing and Chairing Committee Meetings Attending monthly conference calls with Parkinson Canada event staff Attending and overseeing all aspects of the walk including post walk wrap up What is Needed to Succeed in this Role Exceptional leadership skills and enjoy working as part of a team Excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to delegate and hold volunteers accountable Possess an interest in working with Parkinson Canada and with Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their families Able to dedicate the amount of time required to successfully execute the role Able to meet deadlines Commitment The time commitment for this opportunity is April to October 6-8 hours per month, including monthly meetings and post event wrap up. You will also attend the event which is usually held in early September. Head Director of Outreach - Atlantic Canada (Canada CyberSTEAM Challenge)
