With locations in downtown Halifax and Yarmouth, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is the largest art museum in Atlantic Canada. Since 1908, the Gallery has been a gateway for the visual arts in Atlantic Canada by engaging people with art. It is committed to this mission as an agency of the Province of Nova Scotia and one of the premier arts institutions in Canada. The Gallery is also responsible for acquiring, preserving and exhibiting works of art, and for providing education in the visual arts. The Gallery’s Permanent Collection currently holds over 17,000 works.
The Arthritis Society began 70 years ago with one very clear goal; to alleviate the suffering of people crippled by arthritis. Founded in 1948 by Dr. Wallace Graham and his medical peers from across the country, it was Mary Pack, a fiercely driven community advocate who worked tirelessly to put peoples’ needs truly into the spotlight. Today, that same passion exists in communities across Canada.
The Bella Rose Arts Centre Society was created in order to fill the need for a performing arts venue and cultural space in the Clayton Park neighbourhood of Halifax Mainland North. The society is a registered, not-for-profit charity whose function is to operate the Bella Rose Arts Centre theatre and its programs. The mission of the Bella Rose Arts Centre is to foster appreciation and understanding of the arts within the school and community through an inclusive approach to music, fine arts and performing arts programming. The main focus of the Bella Rose Arts Centre is to facilitate arts education and programming within the diverse community of Halifax Mainland North.

This network includes the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Federation) and 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies dedicated to improving the situation of the most vulnerable throughout the world.
The Culture Link is looking for Volunteers to work 3 Saturdays at either the Seaport Farmers market or the Forum. Looking to start Saturday March 10th. Lunch will be provided! Volunteers will be asking the public to answer a quick 2-4 question survey on an iPad about whether or not they would support Culture links proposal to turn the old World Trade Convention Centre into a facility fit to cater to the cities creative industries such as tv, dance, theatre, and music. We are arranging a private event for government officials however we are in much need of asking the publics input as well which is where you come in! Established in 1985, under the leadership of Dr. John Savage, The Dartmouth Learning Network Society provides opportunities for adults and their family members to improve reading, writing, math, communication, document use, computer use, teamwork and critical thinking skills, in addition to helping them gain a love of life-long learning. We offer programs for: • Adults, 19 years of age and older looking to gain new skills, their adult high school diploma, their General Education Development (GED) equivalency. • Adults, 19 years of age and older looking for help to gain employment • Adults with learning differences or challenges looking to gain new skills • Parents, caregivers, childcare centres and community members looking to ensure children achieve success in school. The Dartmouth Learning Network Community Learning Team is made up of a small compliment of staff (four full-time and three part-time), supported by over 40 trained volunteers. We work with people 1-1, in small groups and classroom settings and at our location on Wyse Road and at partner sites throughout Halifax Regional Municipality. Our volunteers provide $104,000 in unpaid service to the Dartmouth Learning Network every year
The Dartmouth Makers are a non-profit, volunteer driven society of artists and craftspeople with an aim to foster a vibrant Dartmouth arts community. Their vision is to create affordable craft shows where artists, crafters and makers alike can market and sell their work.

The Halifax Tool Library is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that loans tools to the community as a proud member of the sharing economy in Halifax. Our key mission is to get underused tools into the hands of people who need them. In order to make this happen we need energetic, engaged volunteers to do a variety of tasks from membership (customer) service to administration to library organization to tool maintenance and repair. We love what we do and the current corps of volunteers and our membership are DIY and sharing economy enthusiasts. The executive are constantly striving to make the volunteer experience at the HTL a fun and valuable way to share time and be social while doing an amazing thing for our community.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to curing blood cancers and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. Through Canadian-led research, education, advocacy, and free support services, LLSC helps people navigate every step of their blood cancer experience while driving progress in treatments and care. Light The Night is LLSC’s signature fundraising event, bringing communities together each fall in cities across Canada. Participants carry illuminated lanterns—red for supporters, white for survivors, and gold in memory of loved ones—as they walk in solidarity to honour, celebrate, and remember those impacted by blood cancers. Funds raised through Light The Night fuel groundbreaking research and vital support programs. The event not only shines a light on the progress made over the past two decades, but also inspires hope and connection, reminding everyone that no one walks alone in the blood cancer community.
The Marguerite Centre is a long-term, residential facility for women healing from addiction. We foster a healthier society by supporting women recovering from addiction through a long-term residential program focusing on the healing of mind, body and spirit.
The Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture brings cultures together through film, music and entertainment. Join us in-person or online on September 19, 2020.
