About Dauphinee Centre
The Dauphinee Centre is an NHL-sized arena located at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Opened in 2019, it serves as the home ice for the SMU Huskies men’s and women’s hockey teams.
The facility includes several key features:
Capacity: It holds over 1,200 spectators, including 875 fixed seats.
Community Use: More than half of its schedule is dedicated to community activities, summer camps, and intramural sports.
Accessibility: The building is fully accessible, featuring an elevator and six accessible changing rooms.
Amenities: It includes the Barbara Holmes Gathering Centre (a heated viewing area), a dedicated varsity suite for athletes, and a pedway (the Pseudio Link) connecting it to the Homburg Centre for Health & Wellness.
The project was made possible through significant donations from alumnus Bob Dauphinee and local entrepreneurs Glen and Nancy Holmes.
