GHOST TANGO: A World Premiere Opera

Bradyworks (Montreal) and Vocalypse (Halifax) are proud to present the world premiere of GHOST TANGO, a riveting new chamber opera that tells the poignant story of a Canadian woman trapped in Argentina’s Dirty War.,Twenty years after being abused in an Argentinian prison cell, the woman thinks she recognizes her tormentor on a cruise ship. When the ship runs aground, he is seriously injured, and the woman is faced with a terrible moral dilemma. Should she forgive her torturer and allow him to continue his life without fear of exposure and prosecution? Or, due to unexpected and fortuitous circumstances, should she put an end to his life in a well-deserved act of revenge?,With a dynamic score by virtuoso guitarist Tim Brady and libretto by award-winning poet Douglas Burnet Smith, this world premiere opera will have audiences on the edge of their seats.,GHOST TANGO stars two of Nova Scotia’s most talented classical singer/actors, featuring the intense emotion of soprano Janice Jackson and the rich, resonant voice of baritone R.L. Thompson. As for the music, it has to be an operatic first, as Tim Brady uses an electric guitar and the latest electronic technology to let loose a swirling musical storm.,GHOST TANGO is directed by Anne-Marie Donovan and features the talents of an all-star production team, with video projections by Lukas Pearse, costumes by Arianne Pollet-Brannen, lighting by Leigh Ann Vardy, and stage design by Carolena Charles, all under the watchful eye of production manager Andrew David Terris.,GHOST TANGO is a unique, thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime operatic experience that will appeal to many different audiences. It will have five performances in the Sir James Dunn Theatre at the Dalhousie Arts Centre, 6101 University Avenue, Halifax.
