The Lifesaving Society receives funding to run our Swim to Survive program throughout the province, teaching grade 3 students and new Canadians lifesaving water safety skills. Over the course of three sessions, students will practice rolling into the water, treading for 1 minute and swimming 50 metres. We’re currently looking for casual volunteer instructors who are available for 1-2 hours/shift throughout the school year. You do not need a swim instruction background but you do need how to swim comfortably enough to be able to perform the skills. You will be paired with an instructor to aid the children in completing the program. We offer it in pools across the province so we should be able to accommodate any volunteer looking to be in a pool close to home. If you have any questions, contact Grace at swimtosurvive@lifesavingns.ca.
