Opportunity Description:

ElderDog Halifax is looking for a volunteer to fill the In-Home Senior Support Coordinator position in our pawd. The In-Home Senior Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the volunteers who go in to the homes of our seniors to provide dog care activities. Responsibilities for the Coordinator include: Matching volunteers with the appropriate senior (based on skill, dog comfort level, and location etc.) Making introductions between the volunteers and seniors Monitoring volunteer and senior satisfaction in their placements Being a connection between the seniors’ dog(s) needs and our service providers We meet as a leadership team at least once a month to coordinate and discuss progress within our pawd and the larger national level organization. Our pawd works as a team so there is lots of support along the way. We are all volunteers and most of us work full time – so we’re sensitive to the fact that you probably will be as well. We’d also be open to having two co-coordinators if preferred. The main skills needed are comfort and experience with dogs, and excellent communication skills. Comfort with seniors is of course required as is tact and discretion. Access to a car is extremely helpful.
