Invasive species are one of the most significant threats to biodiversity. Help Nature Conservancy of Canada beat back the Buckthorn threat in the forests at the Pugwash Estuary. The fight is on against the invasive shrub Glossy Buckthorn and NCC needs your help to get down and dirty to pull this nasty plant! Glossy Buckthorn has been detected in the Pugwash Estuary where NCC has protected nearly 1000 acres around this significant waterfowl habitat site. This will mark the fourth year in a row that we return to continue the battle against Glossy Buckthorn, which out-competes native plants and changes the natural native habitat. We can see the progress! To keep our ecosystems healthy and full of native species, we ask for your gusto and enthusiasm, and we’ll supply the tools and lunch! Friends of the Pugwash Estuary, are helping out again this year. Pugwash Buckthorn Beatdown Pugwash Estuary, Pugwash, NS October 3, 2015 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Register here: http://tinyurl.com/ol6kvss
