Office & Phone Support   POSITION OVERVIEW Office & Phone Support volunteers work on a wide range of projects across our Halifax office, supporting the Nova Scotia team with information management and administration, while also answering phone calls and email enquiries on behalf of the Arthritis Society. This is the perfect opportunity for volunteers looking to develop office skills, gain experience in a bustling workplace, hone professional communication skills, and contribute directly to the success of our mission.   TIME COMMITMENT Volunteers are typically asked to commit to a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week, for a period of at least 6 months     KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Answer a wide range of calls and emails to the Arthritis Society, covering topics such as arthritis information, programs & services, donor enquiries, and volunteering (training provided) Provide support and information to people affected by arthritis Carry out office support tasks such as data management and filing Support with local event preparation and administration for major Nova Scotia events such as our Walk for Arthritis, Celebrity Roast and Virtual Everest     DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Friendly and approachable, with professional phone manner Ability to deal with possible customer complaints or issues Passionate about and commitment to bettering the lives of those affected by arthritis Willingness to undertake training appropriate to the role, and learn about arthritis and the Arthritis Society Ability to work effectively with staff and other volunteers Previous office support experience is an asset Customer service experience is an asset Strong verbal and written communication skills are an asset Word and Excel skills are an asset   MAJOR CONTACTS An Arthritis Society Staff member in the Nova Scotia team will directly oversee this role Donors, volunteers, clients, businesses, and other people and organizations contacting the Arthritis Society Other volunteers and Arthritis Society staff, including the volunteer engagement team   WORKING ENVIRONMENT This role typically requires a fixed shift to allow for regular scheduling, but some flexibility can be offered.
