Are you a cook, a dietician, a foodie? Do you believe in food justice? Are you creative? Do you like things to be neat and well organized? We are looking for several people to help us out in our Food Market! Are you, comfortable helping vulnerable people with diverse needs? Are you obsessed with food justice and how breaking bread together makes change in community? Are you able to lift 40 pounds? There are several opportunities: Greeter (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 9am and 2pm) Welcomes guests Enters guest information into the database, completes paperwork and enter guests visit Seats guests and coordinates with Shopping Assistant to meet guest needs. Shopper (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 9am and 2pm) accompanies the shopper/guest through the Market. offers nutritional and menu suggestions and guidance Identifies other needs that the Brunswick Street Mission can support the client with Food Demonstrator (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 9am and 2pm) Works with the coordinator to identify food items to highlight each week Creates recipes and menu options to be shared with shoppers/guests Offers samples or tastings including recipes to community as they come in for programming Does research for recipes and new ideas Orders ingredients when needed Creates the item with Kitchen Coordinator Packs ingredients into take-away kits Stockist (Monday between 9am and 2pm or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 9am and 2pm as needed) Receives Feed Nova Scotia delivery. Organizes and stocks the market shelves. Monitors best before dates and product quality
