Opportunity Description:

Host Volunteers and Core Volunteers are needed for the new Back to Our Roots Urban Farm, which recently opened at the end of May. The Back to Our Roots (BTOR) Urban Farm is a brand new initiative on the Nova Scotia Hospital site, 300 Pleasant Street in Dartmouth. The BTOR Urban Farm will operate as a piece of health infrastructure. The farm is a seed now, and we are looking for volunteers to help it grow! This new, exciting venture is similar to the Common Roots Urban Farm in Halifax on Robie Street. There will be multiple parts of the farm, including a community garden, a market garden, and commons area. The area will also be used for recreation therapy. Interested in helping out? As volunteers will be coordinated by the Nova Scotia Health Authority, please contact Dachia Joudrey at 902-464-4805 or dachia.joudrey@nshealth.ca for more information/next steps. For more information about the Farm, contact Project Coordinator Hillary Lindsay: hillary.lindsay@nshealth.ca
