From the driving rhythm of Mars to the ethereal mysticism of Neptune, Gustav Holst’s The Planets is music on a massive scale – a relentless, forceful, no-holds-barred orchestral extravaganza. Now, with a special video appearance from legendary Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, our orchestra performs this spectacular work for the first time in a decade. Plus, hear Elgar’s rarely performed Sea Pictures, a passionate work that Maestro Gueller calls “absolutely wonderful.” Sunday May 1, 2016, 7:30 pm, Rebecca Cohn Auditorium.
