Welcome to CIAD—Canadian Intervention and Assistance Dogs Society.  In Gaelic, CIAD means “primary” or “first”.  We felt that this name truly reflects our training school on a number of levels….first; we are a new school in Nova Scotia offering intervention and assistance dog training.  Secondly, we are focusing on providing assistance (service) dogs to first responders who have sustained post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI) that are either cumulative (long-term over their career) or incidental (a specific event).
We are an incorporated not-for-profit society and operate following the Societies Act of Nova Scotia.
Follow along with us as we grow and consider becoming one of our supporters!  There are many ways that you can help CIAD grow…by donating your time, talents or financial contributions to help us reach our goal of pairing service dogs with first responders.

Wherever you turn, you can find someone who needs you. Even if it is a little thing, do something for which there is no pay but the privilege of doing it. Remember, you don’t live in a world all of your own.
