Opportunity Description:

Join Nature Conservancy of Canada and Bird Studies Canada for the 6th Annual Wild for Waterfowl Count! NCC has conservation lands in Port Joli and Little Port L’Hebert which are prime spots for birding as they are adjacent to Migratory Bird Sanctuaries, or part of the South Shore Important Bird Area. Birding skills are valuable but not a perquisite for participation in this day-long count. Data from this event is provided to the Canadian Wildlife Service to assist in management of three coastal Migratory Bird Sanctuaries in the area as well as NCC nature reserves. Participants will gather at the Harrison Lewis Centre on the Port L’Hebert Peninsula. Special Features: Anyone with an interest in coastal birds is welcome, including beginner birders and families. Prior to the count, at the Harrison Lewis Centre, we will provide an overview of common bird species, instructions, and the site boundaries. Each group will be accompanied by at least one experienced birder to assist with identification and documenting observations. Binoculars and spotting scopes available if needed.
