Opportunity Description:

Join The Team: Halifax (Kjipuktuk) is hosting the 2020 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) in July 2020 which will be the largest multi-sporting event to be held in Nova Scotia. Marking the first time the Games will be held in Atlantic Canada, this event will take place over eight days from July 12 – 18, 2020, and will include more than 5,000 Indigenous sport and cultural youth participants from over 756 nations in 17 sporting disciplines. Events will be held at various locations in Halifax Regional Municipality and Millbrook. 2020 will mark the 10th edition of the Games.   What’s Involved: Games time volunteers will be at the heart of daily operations for the North American Indigenous Games. They will help with celebrations, daily events, daily sporting competitions, and more. Volunteers will help create a welcoming environment for Indigenous athletes and youth and showcasing our community and Mi’kmaq culture.    What’s the benefit of volunteering with NAIG? You’ll gain meaningful and long-lasting friendships, learn about the diverse cultures and obtain professional growth.    Pre Game Opportunities: Work at our Volunteer Centre to help with volunteer preparations Help with the assembly of accreditations Work at booths during trade shows, fairs or other events Be a NAIG Ambassador at events, shows, etc Work with the team with pre-games administration needs Games Time Roles: Administration and Finance Accommodations Information Technologies Protocol and Honorary Guest Services Accreditation Culture & Ceremonies Media & Communications Food Services Logistics Sport Transportation Volunteer Services   Time Commitment: Minimum of 18 hours during the week of July 12-18, 2020 Qualifications: Aged 14 (with guardian/parents’ consent) and up Submitted Criminal Record Check (If aged 18 or older) Open to learn and celebrate Indigenous culture Desire to be a part of the largest sporting and cultural event to ever come to Halifax, Nova Scotia   To Apply:   Please visit www.naig2020.com/volunteer    Questions?
